C.O.W. entry for the new year contest: 2010, merpeople on planet Europa. I was doing like 5things at the time, didn't feel this was ready to enter in time. Shoulda just entered anyway.

This 30 minute sketch could have been way cooler if my computer didn't keep locking up on me that day! I will rectify this with more ram as soon as I can afford it!

"Witch's house" Rather than try to beat this into shape, I think I'll come back to this theme sometime later down the road and do it right from the get-go

despite the irritating lag during this half-hour-of-power session, I think this piece is at least compositionally sound

Sleep deprived and having worked all day on assignment, I gave Dylan Cole's chiustream challenge an ambitious last-minute effort.
This may not be too successful a painting, but I stretched my gears artistically and had fun winding down for the evening.

Of course it didnt upload in time - a 5 minute window was silly of me, I should have known but I was so sucked in!

I'm happy with my new found love of landscape compositions, and will have fun pushing this even further in days to come!

An old favorite, revised a bit, color added. I'm improving this style with each new piece and I think I will focus on it as my illustrative concentration. Going back and reworking the older ones is helping me see how to make newer ones quicker. I'm thinking to sell these as prints.

Thumbs for a fun illustration idea that may never see the light of day... based on the My Little Ponies dragon, Spike... and the fact that he has latent pony-chomping instincts which occasionally get the better of him.

The dreaded Scrotoro, the "unspeakable one"... I was ashamed to post this until now... the colored version has more eerie power... this one is relatively safe.
Oh, so there's a story behind why Travis Moor'es name is signed onto this... well, it's a long story, but in a nutshell: I blame Travie for this unholy beast's conception.


Another notorious face of evil... this is the sketch I did of a troll, during the first ever historic Chillstream! Hosted by Christoffer Klungberto, the theme was "Nordic". The troll was never comleted, as this was the last night I ever saw that wacom stylus... I blame the troll, I believe he ate it... I shutter now more at the time wasted on this troll's "biggy smalls", and at my general lack of anatomy awareness at the time.

It's good that you've started to turn down that overexposed thing you did earlier. I was just going to tell you about it but then I realized you already seemed to notice. And as much as I love seeing your imagination work and I'd like to see some studies. I don't know if you even do any but I think it could be necessary since I can see some form issues. Still life studies could be a good idea.

But your imagination is marvelous, you'll surely be one of the better concept artists out there if you spend some more time with the studying.

I think my comment came out like a slap on the nuts but I hope yours are made out of steel.

Slap in the nuts? Nah, more like a tickle... I really appreciate it actually, thanks for taking the time to give me that honest feedback.

Issues with form you say? how so? I actually do most of my studying on paper, and currently have no working scanner - [or rather, I have a scanner that takes an hour to warm up and then tells you there was a problem connecting to the scanner... maybe every third or fifth time I do this, I manage to get a scan in... this is all time which could have been spent drawing...]

So while I have no evidence to support this, I assure you that I do a lot of anatomy studies and life drawing from people, animals, and have recently begun integrating statues into my repertoir... also, I plan to start taking advantage of the local art museum's free admission Sundays, do some master studies... they will only let me use graphite though, so cant really study color or brush strokes... (maybe colored pencil...?)

I need to do more enviro studies, but my mac has gotten so unbearably slow, it pains me to do those big, sweeping brush strokes... this problem I plan to remedy by virtue of it being Spring now, and I having a field easel... not as convenient as digital photo studies, but a whole heck of a lot more fun.
I do the occasional still life, in pencil, but if you feel concentrating on still lifes would help my sense of form, I'm all for it.
Thing is, I don't really see what is wrong with my sense of form, just as about a year ago, I didn't see what was wrong with my sense of composition or anatomy, and only within the last couple of months has my grasp of color/value started to catch up with Leebleeb's critiques.
Wow, I am rather articulate about this - good journaling I suppose, helps me hone my focus - though perhaps I should give up on painting and just write the great American novel instead?
Ah well, writing shall have it's place in the upcoming renaissance/revolution, stay tuned for more on that...

Oh yeah, I logged in to get the link to send a potential employer, but I see now that I need to seriously update this with more recent works.

Funny how when u study a lot, you improve so quick, you never feel you have any good work in your portfolio...

Okay, so here's a few diddies, I've more to post but it seems when I post too many at once they don't show? :/ unless youb other people can actually see the images above the purple dragon (the naked nazi skullface midget, etc...)?

This is from I believe Chiustream #43? the one where the guest didnt show so we had a sketch-off instead and some handsome devil picked the topic "die with your boots on", as in "if you're gonna die, die with your boots on" because really: fuckit I may work this into a full painting soon...

Good thing that guest didn't show up, cuz we got an extansion and this piece is really still in the rough. That's just where it was when time was up... I was like "this piece sucks, no way I'll win, but hey, if you're gonna die..."

Oh, and as for why it wasn't finished in time for the contest? Because the idea was to start sketching. It was such an amazing day I decided to just sketch one of the statues in the park... often these chiustream themes get me rollin' on a new way of thinking about art, and the momentum keeps building, long after the contest comes and goes... not a great way to win contests, but it sure gets me charged and I can definitely see improvements as I expand myself... so yeah, articulate mofo, ain't I? let's look at more drawrin's...

That's an old'n I just dug up, from my early Sketchbook Pro experiments... I like it, like a cute version of the horrible blackness that dwells within us all and feeds on our negative emotions... awe, he just needs a lollipop...

Retouched from the one you see earlier... cool that I understand anatomy/ lighting better now, disturbing how little I knew a few months ago... not completely finished, but I cant change the face without ruining the spontaneity!



sexy bunny with creepy creature.. I did so many different versions, trying t figure out a sense of stylistic direction... in a way, any of them would have been good if I'd just picked one and stuck to it... I haveba Boris-Vallejo-esue bunny on a dragon somewhere too... and my sketchbooks? forget it! Must... aquire... working... scanner!!
