Really neat! You got a very awesome unique use of colour which makes for some really cool imagery. I'm especially fond of your environments and how you tackle texture. Just lovely!

Liffey - yeah, i can be a bit busy, maybe i should really do one of those "where is wally" things... thanks!

ColumbusSage, Lone Wolf, MephistonX, Lyle Moore - thanks a lot!

Fourth Nail - haha, i had forgotten about that. used to do it all the time when i was a kid. people should do that more often. thanks for the cool feedback! now i will go and press my fingers into my eyes and get some inspiration

Giorge - yeah, dreams are such a nice source for inspiration and ideas. i've heard that you could like train yourself to remember your dreams more vividly. might be a cool thing to look in to that. and thanks a bunch!

jinajjj - thanks a lot! i will go on for sure!

jordyskateboardy - thanks! i have been into environments lately so the characters is kind of old and the environments kind of fresh.

Yang87, vimmel - thanks, tack som fan!

so, here is todays work, maybe my last finished piece of 2o09. hope you like it!

The colours, the lightness, the easy breeze all your pieces seem to evoke. Beautiful style and beautiful rendering. Overall I would really like to see some more gritty and seroious subject matter. Show me your darkest secrets and images.

    kMh - thanks!

    Ra Havok - THANKSPLOSION!

    Keeviin - thanks!

Janos - thanks! yeah, i will try to improve on the more realistic side, focusing on characters. will create a sketchbook in the beginning of next year i guess, so i can give you guys a more frequent update on how things are going.

    dermgmeister - thanks a lot!

Samantha - yeah i have high hopes for next year. lots of progess i hope. thanks!

kessler - thanks! those block faced characters were created as boss and enemy concepts for a puzzle/shooter game that i and a friend is working on. i hope it can be something cool in the future. and it is a really fun design to create creatures from.

And this is for sure the last piece of 2o09 will try to learn how to do kick ass matte paintings. still have a lot to learn, so critics and useful comments are always welcome. thanks!

And thanks for the inspiring comments everyone! i wish you all the best this coming year!

That last matte piece is awesome. the original looks like the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. I almost got arrested there once by a park ranger for climbing without a license. Beautiful park.

Fourth Nail - thanks! you are right, Garden of the Gods.

    Dementist - thanks!

Chaser226 - actually, i found that plate photo on my hard drive. have a lot of reference images there and thought it was kind of good for the matte i had in mind. don't know who took it though. so maybe i should have made it clear that it was a kind if matte painting study?

questions: what is the rules for using photos for matte paintings? could you use any photo or are there any rules on using only your own photos? even for non commercial studies?
