Hey Howie! Really cool sketchbook, I like your imagination, and your work is looking solid. Your studies are looking good too, keep working on them and you'll be going places.
Keep it up!
thanks guys, really appreciate it
photo study, and the final moby-dick cover...still not crazy about the posing of the figures

using only hard round brush to hopefully make me think about colors and shapes more

i did this one the same as the previous ones except when i was done i made a new layer and applied a blur to it and then i just masked out the areas i wanted to be harder edged.

this is from the topic of the Robin hood CHOW but its not for the CHOW. For school we were told to make an assignment for ourselves that deals with the market we want to go into so i just turned one of the CHOWS into my assignment. I also had to come up with another assignment related to this one and i decided to do an environment where robin hood would be found, but here is where i am with the character
designing
sketches, im really trying to improve the posing of my figures so i looked a ref for the first one but wasnt crazy about it. Didn't use any ref for the second and i think it came out better, but his proportions look a little weird.
I didnt really stick to strictly to any of my designs, but i suppose i used the middle one the most

Cool studies! Really good grasp of colour. A little anatomy would increase a lot the quality of your work. Just keep it up!

these are actually for a project im doing in my web design class that focuses on old architecture in philly but i made an excuse to draw/paint them so i could continue doing studies
