kungfoowiz: I think that a lot of the stiffness can be attributed to the lack of flexibility in that armor. thanks

zelda_geek: Naa never too harsh, I wish there were more comments like this I think if there's any reasoning for the lack of contrast, it's because I painted it very overcast so I didn't think there was much to reflect. Definitely get what you mean though, I was struggling with the light source in the picture to start with too. Thanks for the comments!

A couple more armor studies. These were.. not really faster, but easier?

quickie self portrait different method, but I look a lot older:

loooong due imagination piece. not 100% happy with it but I think I'll stop here. I'm just glad I was able to get something from my head. originally for the alice chow, but then took too long.. ahh i need to plan better, like seperating the figure from the background layer .

still life why are you so difficult..

Uhh reverse storyboarding. Clearly I didn't know what I was doing with these.

Then I tried doing a complete scene but died about thirty seconds in.

So I got some downloads from the sale going on.. I didn't think they would help this much. But after watching Jason Chan's thunderdome one, I felt super inspired. AND it made me realize there was a hardness slider on the brush menu. Seriously wtf, how did I not notice that. It's such a useful adjustment tool.

Anyway, I thought this CHOW was a lost cause at first but after watching the download I got pumped to do stuff and pushed this out. I think it's my best piece I've done so far. Saving my other downloads for when the inspiration runs a little drier.

I completely forgot about the front/back thing for this so it was actually done after I completed the illustration. Kind of defeats the purpose but yeah, just rushed it.

Pen sketches from life (maybe I'll try doing these daily?)

summer assignment for school, and I actually found it quite useful. messed it up a bit but eh, maybe I'll try again.

something new! Trying to "build a visual library" so I'm just gonna do sketches of random topics everyday. Crossbows:

then trying to draw some crossbow-type weapons from imagination.

    sketchy stuff from life

    hands from life

hands from imagination.. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention during the studies.

So I had a bit of a mini-slump but I got over it.

I think I was just over doing the planes, so I'll probably stop with them after this for awhile.

trying to understand the anatomy of them? and focusing just on lines over rendering.

didn't help here because I practically ignored/forgot everything when doing this haha. (from imagination)

and i need to draw more from life. I always tell myself this but end up regressing to photos

i left and the light changed before i could really push this one
