cool updates man
just looked through your entire sketchbook and i gotta say, very impressive! your progress in your techniques and in your designs are really good!![]()
very inspirational, keep up the good work!
Cool designs.
I was wondering how do you get such crisp edges?
Sorry, I had to take the Aliens images down for now. I did get permission but it wasn't from the right people apparently. Hopefully I can get them back up some point.
NickyBeats: Thanks mate!
kevin: Ty!
MrFrenik: Thanks a lot - much appreciated. I'll drop by very soon!
kingkostas: Thanks man! Love your work
RaphaelLuebke: Thanks a lot mate
Fetscher: Thank you!
midknight523: Probably with the lasso or polygon selection tool, or just a hard brush. Sometimes using an unsharp filter mask on high power can be useful too for fine details that you want to be really shap, light specular highlights.
I'll try and get something to show sometimes soon, I think this is the first time I've posted without having something. Feels pretty awful!
Love your latest character designs! Keep up the hard work![]()

Thanks guys!
llex_paul: It was just freelance on their for around 6 months.
So my wife's been saying how she wants to make hot water bottle covers, mostly flowery stuff, and she was saying how geek-types wouldn't be interested in them. So I did a few mock ups of some they might like. She wasn't convinced..
I don't use a hot water bottle but I'd like the Akama one to put over my face and walk around with.
Thanks for the comments, Vesh. I'm not sure what a hot water bottle cover is, exactly, but I'm sure you could sell a few of those to some hardcore nerds.
awww most of the latest pics doesnt show :< but the ones that do are absolutely stunning, love to come back for more!
Thanks guys. Film/lighting study and some thumbnails

That's great, Vesh. How do you go about adding the chromatic aberration to your images?
Great! Aberration looks nice.

Mr. Frenik: Thanks! There's a lot of people who do this, most notably Anthony Jones. You just duplicate the layer and change the blending mode to miss out one of the rgb channels, then move it ever so slightly. I would usually mask most of it out and leave some where needed. Hope that helps.
Spellsword95: ty! and yep
RaphaelLuebke: Thanks mate
artmessiah: Thanks!

Hmm, how could I have missed your work over the last few months? God damn it!

So much character in this last illustration, man. Like everyone else has said, you're a great inspiration. I know this gets asked A LOT on forums like these, but since I really look up to your work and know that you make your living off of it, I'd like to ask how difficult/rare it is to make a living off of freelancing and if you have any tips regarding finding these jobs/portfolio work/other gems of advice I'd be in your debt - like owe you my 1st born kinda debt.![]()
Nemome: Thank you - I'll let you know if they ever happen to be made!
kingkostas: Thanks mate!
ConnyNordlund: Thanks Conny
jhonshadow: Ty! You and me both
MrFrenik: Thanks a lot. There's people who would be in a place to give you much better advice on this, but if you want to add me on facebook or something we could have a chat about it.. http://www.facebook.com/Veshkau
Here's my very last minute entry for the "Tomb Raider: Reborn" contest. I had set aside 5 days or so to work on this but because of some very tempting short notice work I ended up only getting 1 day, excluding the roughs. I wish I'd had more time but it was fun all the same. I posted some rough work and thumbnails over on my blog if anyone's interested.. http://veshkau.blogspot.co.uk/2013/0...er-reborn.html
Nowhere near finished and definitely some issues but that's happens when you paint for 15 hours straight and don't use reference. Let that be a lesson..
Cheers!
Steve

Wonderful painting Veshkau! apart from the Neck being way too long I don't really see any anatomical problems. I love the lighting and painterly feel! Maybe it could use some stronger castshadows and highlights to convey the strong light. Keep it up man! inspiring!
I know the contest deadline has come, but I think it would be a shame for you not to correct the neck anyway, because everything else about this piece is just beautiful dude.
I'm pretty sure you saw it already as you already said in the post you didn't use reference, but looking at the quality of the painting I think it would be worth the time for you to fix.

-Sketchbook - Comment and crit for a cookie.
Wonderful execution on the tomb raider piece, however I personally find thumbnail "C" to be way more interesting composition wise. Symmetrical compositions like the one that you ended up choosing are often used for religious type illustrations (which given the lara croft fanbase might not be so inappropriate), but i think the more dynamic composition would have made for a more dangerous and adventurous shot, especially with the fire and what-not. The claustrophobic view also reminded me a lot more of what I felt while I was playing through that section of the game.
Anyway, im sure you know a lot of what i just said already, maybe you just threw "C" out due to time constraints. Still, super nice work.
Your stuff looks great =]
