eesh -- it's been a while! Anyway, here's something I've been working on and off for a week or so. I started by swiping some clouds from an earlier painting, and doodling floating rocks on top.

Always a pleasure to view.![]()
that last environment is pretty epic! I saw your wow fanart in cgsociety and f.f. pretty tight.
whooooaa man amazing work, the dragons, the portraits and don't forget the enviros![]()
Hey man, Loving the sketchbook. Some really beautiful stuff. Always nice to see other SCAD students around here as well!
Really digging that last piece, absolutely gorgeous colors.
You might try defining the texture of the outer wall on the plateau. It looks like a waterfall to me but I'm a little unsure of the material.
I like this work, very nice, the color is beautiful.man, keep the nice work up!
thanks for the nice words, everyone!
but, ugg... no time for individual replies tonight... I can't really see straight anymore. This was going to just be a lunch time doodle (image 1) but then I looked up at the clock and my entire evening disappeared. The second two images are process that happened after I Got home from work.

I finished up the value render on this one --- on to color tomorrow at lunch!
And on the technical side, I'm excited to be adding a new input device. soon I'll include a photo of my workspace and give a quick explanation of the unorthodox tools I'm sporting.
for now, the WIP

I really like how you play with colors in your paintings!! they look pretty much alive..
my crit would be to check the perspective of the helmet in your last b/w wip; although the composition looks really nice so far, and I look forward to see it finished.
Can't wait to see the picture of your workstation!!

im excited to see these "unorthodox tools", those eggs are so smooth its unorthodox!
Love that ogres facial structure, really well thought out. Keep it up!!
your sketchbook is really good, you have a very cool painting style. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see more.
Stupidly amazing stuff sir! All of your paintings are so economical in their brush strokes and your colors are fancy. I actually just finished my first year at SCAD and your ability is very inspiring!

Neither is a drawing necessarily academic because it is done in what is called a conventional style, any more than it is good because it is done in an unconventional style. The test is whether it has life and conveys genuine feeling."- Harold Speed

It cool to meet another person who went to SCAD! Have you meet Jason Holt before? That man is very talented to say the least.

Hey Matt, just looked trouhg the whole SB, really good work man! The progress is visible in every stroke, love it!
How about an update??
Cool sketchbook for true! I like seeing the progressive work flow, that will really help people more than you think.
Side comment on the recent car post. I liked it in the previous version. The smoothness and elegance worked so much better. Maybe dial it back and hone in on that, just an idea.
Thanks everyone!
Sunny: right you are! I'll have to roll that one back a bit. Thanks for the feedback!
today I want to work on an entry in the CHOW, so I started with some vilpu studies.
