Your last study portrait is well done, the colors are stunning. And for your Sebastien Grainger portrait, i think your version is better than the original, so it's a good sign heheh!
(great SB btw)
Dude... you rock. Thanks for the great posts and the very helpful tuts at crtlPaint.
great work matt, enjoyed looking through your sketchbook
Hey man, love your site (helped me figure out a lot of tools) and your work is really awesome. Keep it up!!!!!!

Love your sketchbook, It's a great source of inspiration. But if I need to be critical, on the last one you need to soften the edges, and imply bounce light more in the pears - they seem a bit flat right now. I'm sure it is due to you having a different focus of the exercise, but still, doesn't hurt to point out.

lovely updates man! top notch stuff.
Thanks, guys!
Recently I've been spending more of my personal-art time on my website, ctrlPaint. As a result, I'll start showing you some of that work here in my sketchbook. This upcoming week is all about Specularity (glossy highlights), and here are some screenshots. The general schedule is: two fee videos each week, Tuesday and Thursday. This week starts with brush technique for painting highlights, and then ends with this purple abstract thingy.

last update looks good.
& like how solid the work you do seems - esp pieces like #623, #572/#578 (thanks for the process on that one), #583/#588/#592/#600, #411 and #489. & others.
But given my weakness for birds - and how damn solid your painting is in #497 I just get really happy looking at it - esp. given the process images to it.
thanks for posting - and the blog seems cool too ~

I just clicked that link to your website and I really like all these little video lessons. Can't wait to watch more of them, really helpful when you don't know what to study next, and a good way to be efficient
Keep up the great work!
Amazing sb, I spent the whole night reading/looking. I've just started checking out Ctl+Paint, I reckon I know what I'll do tomorrow instead of work...
Great job and thanks in the name of beginners!
Wow man, your sketchbook is really amazing. You're posting allot! Do you got some tips for me? You're still live's are really a big help, gonna study them!
Hey man. Work is looking great as per usual, I especially like that portrait of the rocker.
A request for the tutorial site, could you show your process of painting portraits? It seems everyone has a different approach, and I'm currently trying to find a way that works for me. So far, the Reilly method seems easiest. Thanks man, and keep it up.![]()

Thank's for your stuff! Its very helpful. When I started to draw there was not enough material, very much there were no such sites as ctr+paint!
@ droid: I don't really have a method.. I do it a bit different every time. Someday, I hope to have a method. As for the Reilley Method -- that's cool! I didn't know it had a name. Thanks for the cool video!
Here are some quick drawings -- inspired by the reilley method.
