    ♦ Berrykitten's Sketchbook

    Hey there!

This is my first time actually using conceptart.org ( I've only been browsing around for ages ) and hopefully it'll come in handy. I actually have a reason why I finally decided to register

I'll mostly do creature concepts, but also of human characters and a few gadgets such as ships, gliders and the like. Most of my concepts are for my novel, "Solarstern" ( the title is the german original, in english it would possibly mean something along the lines of "Solarstar" / "Sunstar" )

    So now, let's get started!

    Solarstern Concept: Malak
    the winged animal companion.

he is not taller than an ocelot!

"Malak is always seen on the side of the spacepirate John Breach - he will never leave him alone unless he's forced or told to. If he's set apart from him the creature tends to become nervous and moody and should not be pestered in any way. Appearantly, John is the only person who can understand Malak fully, which might be because they share a special bond eversince John saved him from a certain death on his home planet, Geryon."

Wow. I've never been able to draw animals, it's nice to see someone have it as main thing.
Wish you luck! Will come by eventually.

Thanks a lot! I personally find the hardest thing on animals is their fur / plumage

I just finished another concept, this time of a creature.

Thank you! I'm trying my best.

Today I started working on a picture of my albino female Xhinolophilis character. It is still a heavy WIP:

I also did a sketch of a potential skeleton of these creatures right here:

This time I bring some sketches I did in photoshop ( with a special pencil brush ) regarding new creature designs.

This is a pretty old design I once did, then redid over time again and again with different influences. This is an actual character called Teer ( german for tar ), a female of this yet unnamed species. My favorite part is still her head. So grotesque ♥ Gotta adore these tusks. The fin on her back, by the way, is not naturally like that - a part got bitten / ripped off, same goes for her left ear. These creatures are omnivore and eat everything they come across.

A new design. These creatures are similar to the cows of our time ... just much more agile and elegant. They are fast runners, but prone to breaking their legs due to their slenderness. They are very valuable to the people, as they are giving them milk from their large udders that they have in the region of their stomach. They are also used as mounts or for pulling carriages. The tuffs on the end of their tails are cut off every spring and webbed into clothes and the like - they grow back until it's winter again to spent them warmth.
