Trying to finish this Warrior girl painting, I'm not sure what more I can do to it now. Any suggestions?
Character sketches for my animation project. Not going in this direction though because it's too much work. I'm thinking animals and caves now.
Cheers
good to see you still grinding away and covering all angles imaginative and studies your are well on the road of improvement.
dude i really dig your style man, keep it up.
Great work so far mate!
Few pointers:
1. I think you need to concentrate a bit more on pure anatomy studies.
2. I like Miles's works, but it lately seems that a lot of people try to emulate his work flow and process...please don't become one of those people.
3. Like it was already mentioned, try to study a bit more about the different planes of the face and how those planes look from different angles and with different light sources.
Hope it helps a bit,
Keep up with the great work!
Cheers,
Fallen.
Open for commissions......just PM me.
hey great updates !!!
your selfportrait is awesome (that blue color is well done and well placed)
the following girl is so beautifully depicted: good proportions, flowing stokes , unfinished look
you have an animation project ? sounds awesome
keep the fun mate![]()
RAHHH THE PENCILS IN #1562 ARE AWESOME AN i REALL DIG THE CONCEPTS OF 1573 AN 1587 1573 IS WICKED WERK BROTHER!!! XDXDXD
warrior girl is looking awesome! I can give 2 pointers on it I believe, arms are probably a bit too long for a realistic figure (however given the fact that she has a sword that's about 3 times her body mass I'll let it slide) and I would have to say that the arm facing away from us at the back is not in a very natural position. When your arm bends back like that your back muscles are probably going to be going in that direction, try putting your arm in the same pose as her and you'll notice that in the area where your shoulder moves/scapula moves the masses fold and move with it. So given the angle of what we see there probably should be more back showing on that side. Just think of the human body as one connected being of sorts and twisting motions and other poses start to get easier to make.
- Now that my lovely critique is done I would like to say your form has improved greatly! I'm quite happy to see your progressing so nicely and not giving up. Faces are looking much better and try focusing a tad more on proportion, mainly around the eye area it seems you like to make them a tad too big (in some of your realistic drawings) although your painting with the brown haired girl with the sword has good proportion so you're doing fine on that front. I would recommend doing more dramatic lighting, with more focus on anatomy. As a side note I would also keeping your studies to a maximum of 3 hours each. As you get better and better you can shorten the times and you'll see yourself getting quicker at painting. I'm not sure if you're doing that already but in case you're not I may as well suggest it.
*Phew* Done, just keep at it and I can't wait to see what you'll do next :333 - I think your sketchbook is the one I look at the most- Always so fun to see how people improve.
PS: I'm alive still, I'll be updating sometime next week or so hopefully![]()

I have to keep telling myself not to worry…

I see you're doing a lot of studies. You've got a good sense of color. I can only suggest more constructional anatomy studies, especially for heads. Keep in mind general facial proportions all the time! Just google some, download the schemes and try to burn them into your brain! ^__^ Keep up the good work!
This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time.

nice work
I love seeing the progress you've made in this ginormous sketchbook! All your hard work really shows.
The living room study looks really solid- keep doing perspective studies! it's too easy to get caught up doing fun stuff. I was bad for this- drawing only figures. I never realized how much drawing environments and technical drawing would improve my figure drawing! Diversity is a really useful hobby.
Overall your figure work is pretty solid- your proportions and stuff are there. I recommend doing refining studies of the bodies connections. For example your neck / shoulders look a little ambiguous. Or the way the leg connects to the hips.
I really like Bridgman books for this kind of thing. I like the chunky forms he uses - but any of the big dudes will do Loomis, Hale,.
In the mean time- the best rush-job sketches are little perspective studies- rotate some cubes, cylinders and the like. I hate perspective, so little 5-10 minuet jobbies are great for holding my attention lol
Happy sketching![]()
I really need to stop staying up to draw, it's affecting me =)

so many posts
great style you're having
Hi Kongfoowiz,
I made a paintover critique for you: //sta.sh/0cw7gz65v05
Some of your poses have too many conflicting line directions. Try to focus on a single statement, or action, within the pose of a character. This will make for a much stronger impact on the viewer.
Open for commissions......just PM me.
Very depressing week =(

Hi, don't feel depressed. You have a great work. Just keep doing what you love to do. I like your sketchbook very much. Cheers, from Brazil!
cheers dude , you're doing great (especially with the girl portrait)
let's keep up !
