Yeah, I know, it's a Havoc. They're cheap and easily maintained, thus well-suited for a profit-minded mercenary unit.

I figure this is as good a place as any to pimp out the story.

Blood Money Boogie is my take on a distillation of heroic bloodshed movies and just about every action trope in the book The storyline follows a unit of ragtag mercenaries, specifically two in the unit, as they kill and maim their way through the world for a paycheck. In this case, the first story arc takes place in Somalia.

Coincidentally, I should note the difference between mercenary and PMC. A PMC is/are personnel you hire as well-armed security. A mercenary (unit) is/are personnel you hire because you want someone/some people dead or out of the way. There's a fine line, but it's there.

But enough of the bollocks. Sketches coming up in a few hours!

Nice sketches, dude, digging the big guns. Definitely see some good progress here.

Maybe could use a little work on legs/feet.

    Keep it up! C=

    Hello,

Thanks for the look at the war book, I'll be uploading a few more as time goes on. Sure use the photos as reference or what not, I'll check in here from time to time to see how you used them.

Brilliant work, like the weapons and the stance's, I think you should show some more completed digital works you've done, I'd like to see the 'Square brush mess around' piece continued. looks brill.

everytime you draw a person with a gun the gun seems way too big. even if that is how big a gun would be in real life i think you should exploit your artistic license and make them a bit smaller

Hey, thanks for your reply in my sketchbook. Great stuff you've got going on here; I really like your solider sketches, I just find the legs fit really nicely for some reason.. whiiich will probably come across as weird, but I don't know. Aaaanyway, your story looks really interesting; I'd like to see how you tackle the normal 'action blockbuster' conventions of guns, shooting, more guns, a little sex in the middle and a big exploding finale

Well, here's an update of the first page of the comic...

Any input on how to detail the waves would be appreciated. I'm going for slightly scratchy line-heavy look to it.

Also, I'll be putting up the "cover" of the first arc when I can get a chance to get it scanned in.

Troop concepts are something I'd really like to get into as well.

You a GI-Joe fan at all Falchion? (And I don't mean the asstastic movie.)

GI Joe? Not exactly. I'm a gun and gear nut, and quite honestly, I'm fascinated by modern forms of violence. It's wonderful to see man's inhumanity to man.

In the interim while I get some public-consumption pages scanned from my sketchbook, have some preliminary cover and character work for the first arc of the comic!

Yes, I know the anatomy's off. Redlines would be appreciated as always.

Nice updates, the only drama with the Mogadishu piece is those containers, the rear ones throw the piece out a little.

Here's what I would have done, I'll probably be corrected but it's all part of the learning process.

Nice stuff, and a helpful redline over in the critique section for khajit. From a quick look-through I'd say most of your figures are stiff and highly posed. Nothing wrong with highly posed, of course, but I'd still like to see them look a little looser. I'd suggest doing a 100 gestures project. I got most of the way through one by using posemaniac's timer feature. I had it show me a new figure every minute and did 10 a day. I saw pretty quick improvement, but you can always draw whoever's sitting around you, etc.
Take a look at my series of in-depth critiques, like this one of Salvador Dali's hidden portrait of Lincoln.

Good progress here mate. The build up from the first page to here has shown good improvement. Keep working on your strengths, it seems you have a strong sense of imagination with weapons and character concepts relating to it.

You could also focus on facial studies a bit more to give your characters a little bit of that extra personality!

everytime I look in here I get the urgend again to draw weapons. Like I told before, but I never did T.T. Maybe you should dish out some art really fast with just a main focus you like to observe, improve. Seeing the portrait I would say like, do fast 20 or 30 portraits and concentrate on getting the value in a few strokes right. Could be helpfull maybe =).
I can do so little in so much time!
