    Talking evolution.sketchbook [UPDATE 6-11-04]

    UPDATE:

Hey guys, first of all let me just say "Long time no see!"
I've been gone for a long time. . .I kinda went into a recess of no drawing and such, but the other day I happened to come upon concept art and I was instantly inspired to draw again. - You guys rock!

Well enough with the excuses...on with the art!!!

    // END UPDATE

Hey all finally decided to start taking drawing more seriously becuase i want to become a good artist just for personal reasons. I have no intention of trying to be an artist for a living somehow. I just love to draw. nuff said'

i had alot of fun drawing these fella's (more soon)

just some stuff i was doodling - the house is for DSG 331.

    Just some stuff

I hate it when you get hundreds of views and no replies! You're definitely on your way, legacy. Keep at it. The noses look nice and you definitely have imagination. Just practice, practice, practice. I know that makes it sound dull, but if you like to draw it goes by like nothing. Try drawing crowds. The masses tend to be very patient to get into movies. They also stand generally still for minutes on end. Good luck!

    Sincerely,
    Chris

those nose studies are exelent, and a good reminder that I need to do some of my own! Also, the dinosaur heads coming along nicely, but one thing that might be helpful with the mouths (specifically of the t-rex looking fella) is some perspective, so it has a more definite feel to the shape of the mouth.

your pencil work seems very solid man, good work

    I like your nose studies...

...now do a million more of 'em! =D

Actually, out of all the features on the face, the nose, I think, is the easiest. Are you finding this true as well?

heheh yes, the nose seems the easiest as it would appear that it looks very realistic almost any way you draw it lol.

started working on some more anatomy stuff + mouth expressions

    i'll upload later.

On the contrary I find noses are the hard part!
I find eyes the easiest part, followed by the mouth and then I usually sorta just hack in this pointy thing with nostrils.
I've gotten better but yeah, the noses are what really stood out to me

Also, about the Jessica Alba pic, I couldn't tell if that was her body there...I just have trouble making out the anatomy of it.

Oh yeah, the dude with the extra long forearms reminded me of a Supergrass (I think?) film clip

Hehe. I think it must go in cycles because yes, at this time I think noses are the easiest. However, a couple of months ago.....*whistles*

Excellent! First off, you should probably size those large sketchbook pages down as they are a little slow to load and also, since they are old, they are more for a reference of *where* you are coming from in the terms of ability. We dont need to see every scrap of your sketchbook. I did the same thing and bloated my sketchbook to the max. I have, since then, learned the err of my ways.

Anyway, you can definitely see improvement when looking at your older sketches. Keep working on anantomy and draw from reference and from life. Rock on!

heh, yeah forgot that i never resized those old ones...i found them sitting on my webserver today so i just linked to them...never thought to think about me never resizing them.

yeah its really nice to be able to look at my progression. those scans are only like about a few months old...and in that time I didnt really draw very much, so all this improvment is in like a week's time.
