    Soldier Concept Help

Hello, I need a bit of help with coming up the gear for a uber soldier character.

I've researched quite a bit to get a idea for my own head gear design, and stopped there. After a while decided to do a full body, and hit a wall. I asked a friend to give me a sketch, since he is more into soldiers than, Im only now scratching the surface, and the first design is my rendition of sketch.

So this is what Ive got so far.

I think you can add to the armor and make it stand out more, look more intimidating. Seems a bit plain.

Your colored helmet looks great (aside from still needing some more intricay) and the light looks good too.

    Keep posting updates for us/you.

Needs larger goggles to avoid stormtrooper "Can't see out of this thing" syndrome. More advice to come later.

Thank you for all your feedbacks.

jeris82, as far as armor goes, Im still not sure of what to put on him, the current idea still in a rough. I left forearms naked because i didnt really know what to put on them. And everything is a bit plain until I get the gear set I like. Till then I will have to pick your brains.

Falchion, I see what you mean, it'll be though because I dont want to make him look bug eyed, thanks for pointing it out.

The bug-eyed look's never hurt before. Remember, they can look as ridiculous as you want as long as they have a reputation for badassery. Would mess with a clown dual-wielding flamethrowers?

I'm not sure why are there two small pieces of armor on the thigh, I think it would make more sense to have one large instead for more surface protection.

Here is a youtube video for inspiration.

Falchion that is true. I'll play around with that to see what I'll get.

Pigeonkill, yeah that derived from Resident Evil 5, there is a part in a military facility where are some fellows with thigh armor that was two pieced. (thanks for the vid btw)

(nevermind the head i rushed it, and erased the oculars.)

I did some research on vests and some tactical gear, and saw this type of body armor, gave it a shot. While I like how it looks, its not quite the look Im going for, I'll have to research some more, but it takes time (which is a commodity for me these days). The armor set for arms is quite good (shoulder guards need some more work), and leggings look decent enough.

I wanted to put a side arm in there, saw couple of pics of soldiers that had sidearms in front, gave it a go. I like the idea it breaks the mold and gives me the freedom of thigh protectors.

I dont know, its missing something, body armor is not "cool" enough. I want this guy to be a commando/specialist/uber soldier/exterminator type of character. (that sounds odd) Think not-so-distant future setting, with alot of ugly creatures to kill, and they send this guy alone. (Im writing to much now)

    All comments welcome.

He's looking cool but I feel the armor looks more like roller-blading padding at the moment, it's not really altering his silhouette... you have some really nice shapes there but I think you can afford to to thicken the armor more, especially over his chest and around his neck, make it look like the armor is to protect against battlefield weaponry....

Some great designs that I love for futuristic soldier armor are the Final Fantasy film costume designs, they're very well known now but stunning none the less, if you google image search "deep eyes" final fantasy it'll come up, also the making of book is fantastic and contains many futuristic military designs. This just to show how I think you could thicken up the body armor and keep the lightweight feel....
