Ok so I have this sercret project that ive been working on for many many months now. Ive produced a bunch of illustrations but I can only show a couple because they may give away details that are important to the story. Ive chosen a few that are pretty generic, they are important to the story but vague enough that I think they are safe to share.

Heres a pretty major update to my rat in the desert painting. Ive worked hard to get the lighting and colours as right as I could. The colours are definitely exaggerated but its the feel Im going for.

I worked on the rat, the only thing that is unfinished are the feet as far as I can see.

Also its painted at 24x36 so its high res enough for print

Heres another im working on. This one specifically in painter though. Which, is a program i rarely use but found it to be very fun! gotta put more effort into this to finish it but its off to a good start none the less

This is a painting I came across that got lost in old artwork but its relatively new. Im not much for painting on canvas but this one turned out rather awesome. Its very simple yet there is something to it. I remember trying to do something like frank frazetta where I moved some paint around for a background in a dramatic fashion. It wasnt till a year later that I painted the single dark layer on top which turned it into something cool.

I like what you have done so far, the map box especially, that was pretty cool,

The idea of filling up a sketchbook like that is a fun idea too.

Your compositions and movement are amazing, like the flower shop is just very exciting even though, it's a flower shop. You can make anything excitiing with movement and color. I think your ads are great to look at they are appealing because of the bright colors and handmade look. I would like to see the cat brought up so it is touching the girl though so they are not competing for my eye. Whatever the thing is in the lower left, distracts from the focal point. There are too many competing elements.

Thanks izi, i appreciate the thoughtful comments. I see what you mean about the cat and girl, I think it will work out in the end when I get there. Not sure exactly where I am going with it but I have some ideas that should help balance it out. This piece really is a feast for the eyes though, but in the end its her curves that are the focus. Lovely lovely curves... haha

Here is an update for my frazetta style painting. I am taking liberties because i dont want to copy frazetta completely. the sky is very close to one of his and i drew my version of the girl and cat from frazettas movie fire and ice, beyond that the style is a lot closer to mine.

Hey Danarart, thanks for the comment

To be honest I dont do very much practice. I had a job doing conceptual building paintings for a while which is basically all environment so I got kinda used to parts of it. I really love characters so I really had to force myself to do that. Now usually what I do is base it on how I feel the composition needs to be, or I will find references. This might sound weird but I dont really have time to practice. I have a lot of projects that need to move forward so usually I practice on the job

I highly recommend going this route as you need to get projects finished. There is no dancing around it. If it isnt working change it! the trick is still having fun with it

Is there a particular one you saw that made you ask that question?
