I didnt get anything for my friends birthday. I really couldnt think of anything so I bought him a few meals. It just dawned on me that he has been saying to me for months and months that if he had the money he would ask me to do him a mario painting. I decided that even though his birthday is past, I would paint him a cool mario painting. It was hard at first because I am not so good at drawing characters. I really should draw more hehe. But a bit of inspiration I thought a great epic moment would be the smashing of a block and getting a star. I think when I add color I will amke it more awesome by giving him some of the multi color effects that the star usually gives. I also intended the turtle to look scared. I am thinking of adding a flower to the tube and making him look scared too. any thoughts would be great.

Thanks alexson ill keep it going for sure!

i didnt know what to work on so i thought ide keep going on this and the color really started to come to life. it really helped that i was watching the new speed racer movie and when the final race was happening and it was a peak epicness the painting really took on the same vibe. epic moment is what i had in mind but was nervous about capturing it. thanks speed racer!

Hey Sunny, Awesome stuff! One small critique is that I think you should do some close up studies of hands. That to me is your weakest area. Either you draw them a tad small or you put them in really static poses when they could really do alot to emphasize movement and action in your pieces.

    Anyway, hope this helps!

I think you are right. I am getting better at them but I never seem to study them much myself. I should work from reference more and get to know hands well. Thanks for the insight!

    Thanks Sir ^_^

Ive been away for a while it seems. I still work but I havent been doing too much that I was excited to post here till now. I just finished this one for fun. Its not a full painting, more of a painted sketch in my mind, but fun none the less. You may recognise him from the Ren and Stimpy show if you watched it. Its POWER TOAST MAN!!

Thanks Sickbrush I suppose its my natural way of rendering things these days haha.

Also here is a new rendering of mine. I may have already shown it as a full-page ad but I have spent a lot more time detailing it because it is being printed at 10feet x 8feet. So it needed to be improved

And the flower thing is very interesting as well. An interesting concept (flowers love the guy walking in the door).

I havent updated my sketchbook in some time so Ive been eye-balling it lately wondering when I will add something new.

    That time has come.

First up is an album cover Ive been working for on the cheap for a vancouver based band called "Self Taught". The album is called 5-year-journey.

These guys went with the sketchy version in the end. We made a front version with the guys by the side of the road looking like they are on a journey. On the back side is the same rendering except they are older, dirtier, and well-journeyed. The last illustration was made for a friend of theirs that past away. It will be placed on the inside-front.

I mean to say on the last post that people who are looking for projects to work on for money, in other words, work, should look toward two things; tattoo design, and album art-work. It seems to me that EVERYONE wants a tattoo so if you can design some cool ones and your hourly rate is less than that of a tattoo artist then you just need to do a few and put the word out that you offer that service.

With albums it should be the same. There are hundreds of bands in your local area that want to make it big as a group so they are releasing albums left right and center. If you can convince them that paying you some money to do some cool artwork is worth it then your in. There are a lot of propositions to start making!

ive attached an image of a tattoo design I did for a friend of mine. This image is just a mock-up. He is saving to get it done now. The idea was simple. He wanted these words in this font to look like they were stamped out of concrete or stone. I did my best to pull that off!

Waaah I've been checking this one from page 1 and it is mind-blowing indeed! The fact that you have a theme song for your sketchbook alone is awesome! You should show John K your powder toast man. I'm sure he will love it!

Im happy to have given you that experience haha I appreciate the comments. The mario felt like a really good idea at the time. I made it for a friend of mine but as always I thought I want to make a mario picture that I want to see. One that I have never seen before. So I thought about drawing him busting a block and catching a star. I did my best to make it look like the very starting point to the first mario game haha.

I plan to add more drawings soon. But for now here is a self portait I did. This is what i look like these days haha.

This is a commission piece Im working on. Trying to take my time and make it really good so hopefully Im doing that. The client seems to dig it so at least that part is good haha. The story behind this is that the client is on the left, his friend is on the right. She passed away and he wants to have a painting made to hang in the front of his house. He asked that they be falling, holding hands, have a black background, with the umbrella (resident evil) logo in there. I havent worked on this for a couple of weeks because i need some time to breath. I want to make sure I can give him something epic in the end. gotta rework the logo in there somehow but it seems to take away from them a lot.

If you guys want to help that would be appreciated! Otherwise just enjoy the view haha.

btw he informs me that Ive done very well on the likeness of both of them

Im not sure if this is good for this community but here it goes anyway. Here are a few logo designs for a client of mine. They dont dig any of these because they have their hearts set on something very specific. I spent tons of energy making these really good and after all of it I made a version in literally 3 minutes that they liked lol. Irony eh?

    anyway hope you like them!
