I second the previous poster's suggestion. The odd kinks make the picture look rougher than it actually is.

Also, your man's arms are blending into each other. I see you tried to make on arm slightly darker than the other, but they still blend and look like on object. You should use an outline to separate the two arms like you did with the dog. You can also show small details inside the figure while still keeping a simple, clean look. Nothing too extensive, just stuff like showing the where the lady's sleeve separates with the rest of her dress, etc.

I hope this was clear enough.

Is there a reason you are not using outlines?
It might make everything clearer? Or are you going for a collage style like Eric Carle? Then making things more distinct colors might help?

The dog might stand out more on a white background if he's brown instead of gray.

(p.s. Don't assume you have to make things simple to make things for kids, as a mom. . .one of my pet peeves is when books are dumbed down to a supposedly kids level. . . if it's boring for an adult, the kid is probably going to think it's boring too.)

(p.s.s. . . not implying your drawing is boring. . just a general rant about picture books for kids!)

Hello Dragonroseart. Giving more thought to the pic I just did it that way because I wanted see how it would look doing that type of style.
I Agree about using more distinct colors. it would help a lot.
thank you for the input, the updated pic will be up soon.

will keep checking this forum for more input.
