Really like the PS sketches, especially the harlequin with swords. Don't have any particular crits to offer because judging by your latest CHOW, you already know how to put a really great finish on your work. Your life drawings are beautiful, hope you post more.![]()
Really appreciate the comments, maximunki - most encouraging. I definitely will revisit the harlequin; so many projects ... so little time.![]()

Right, about time I breathed new life into this thread. I've been working up my recent ChOW entry to get it to more 'finished' status. Still needs a bit of re-jigging and lots of balancing to bind all the elements how I'd like. I've also decided to make more of the banner, based on what I saw in the ChOW competition (I think it was Nutter's piece that inspired me to big-it-up). See what you think.

DStrax; yeah, I built the scooter/steed in 3ds Max. It meant I could pose it, light it and try a number of different skins and liveries before blending and balancing each level in PShop layers.

Last ones looking good, its always cool to see 3d and 2d mixed well together
Well, I've moved focus onto other projects now so the Robot Pamela piece is officially shelved! This is a quick grab of the 3d steed in case anyone is interested.

Right. About time I updated methinks, I'm determined to finish this one and it's based on a quick-sketch I posted at the beginning of the thread. I'll bore you with the backstory later when (not if) I get it posted in the FF section. It's wip and so I'd love to hear feedback as I take it to completion as it's bound to help me along the way.

Cool stuff man! I really like your life drawings. They are really dynamic. The 3D model of that helmet is really awesome too.
Thanks, Jame.
Gotta pick up this sketchbook again soon. I'll get the Team ChoW out of the way first and try to pick up the pace again. I've got 3 oil paintings to get done by the summer too.. busy-busy-busy!!!

TCIII is sewn up and submitted so I've spent my Sunday underpainting a portrait of my eldest daughter. Acrylics on canvas, roughly 80cm x 60 cm and the rest will be oils. I'll post the end product in the finally finished forum and track progress of the paint here (along with anything else I can). I'm due to begin life drawing after Easter so I should become a more regular post-er.

Hey slayer still quality stuff in here with your assassin piece i thought originally that her left arm had some amputee thing going on til i took a closer look but that may just be my untrained eyes! The painting of your daughter is looking sweet cant wait to see what it looks like when finished. Keep on trucking!
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all art and science.

your drawings skills look good, I think you just need to work on your rendering. I would suggest buying one of the downloads from Jason Chan or maybe Nox, those would do you some good I think.
Another Leamington Spartan?!?!?!?! You wouldn't happen to be at Blitz would you? Ive just started there not long ago.

Hiya
Thanks for your comment.
Nice SBlovely atmosphere on the harlequin and I love the Robot Pamela. Interesting to see 3D and 2D together, I'm wanting to have a go myself, recommend a good program to get started with?
Hey Angel, thanks for dropping in!
Thankyou for feedback also. I work with Studio Max (2010) during the day job and have found it to be much more accessible than Maya. However, others will tell you the complete opposite - I think it very much depends which one you learn first! If sculpting is your thing, have a whirl at ZBrush or Mudbox if you haven't already. It's a bit more instant than learning all of Max's little foibles. Be interested to see what you come up with / what you think to it.

I like the painting of your daughter. The colors are warm and nostalgic.![]()
Thanks Hannah. Just a wip tho, she's a 'girly' girl so pink will be the main... <sigh>

Ha! Cheers, Liz. The nipper is very excited about seeing progress so this one will definitely be finished soon. In fact, she's threatening to be the hardest client I've ever had to please!!! I'm gonna underpaint another 2 portraits over the next fortnight too. Watch this space...

hey! thanks for stopping by my SB, sorry for the late reply
those figures are looovely, and i love your super graceful harlequin too! except I imagined her in a bit more lively environment...not that that somber one isn't awesome also!
but about that scooter chick...if you haven't noticed, women's breasts aren't usually the size of their heads. keep dreaming! bahahahaha
Hahaha! Ah, but she's no 'usual' woman. There was a bit of back-story to the Chow and she was a cyborg inspired by Pamela Anderson. Therefore, all scale constraints are off! In fact, I think I dialed them back a bit for the final render..
I need to rethink the harlequin. I like how the sketch turned out but the Nazi assassin thing has reached it's end I think (in that I've lost interest in the idea). I may pick up again from an earlier point...
Cheers for stopping by, and keep updating your sb. Will follow progress.
