    Alexsons sketchbook (of doom)

This is my sketchbook. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My sketchbook is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My sketchbook, without me, is useless. Without my sketchbook, I am useless.

Great work! My favorite is the toad from the first post. Really great job depicting his skin, and I love the colors. Love the mech too! I really struggle with those types of things...

I think your portraits are looking good. If I can recommend something....it would be to watch out for "black shadows". Also, your shadows seem very dark, very extreme. Do you use black when painting? I would try to stay away from that if possible.

    Post more!!! =)

clockworksnail: Thanks man! I think I bought my first wacom maybe 2 years ago and started playing around with it, it was a crappy small one but about a year ago I bought a wacom intuos2 wich is awesome.

IndigoSummers: Thanks alot! I guess you are right about the shadows. Also I think my monitor is a bit brighter than nomal, my stuff usually looks a bit darker on other monitors. I'll have to check that out.

Yesterday I got started with Digital Painting with Bobby Chiu over on schoolism.com. I have the self study version so I won't get personal critique after every assignment, I chose that due to some money shortage but also there weren't any open spots until January next year.
Anyway I started on the first class assignment which is black and white values. Original art by Bobby Chiu!

Hi! I recently came to somewhat of a crossroad in my life. I decided that I'm not just going to sit around drawing shit from time to time, dreaming of working at some cool company like blizzard or some shit. No, I am going to work at some cool company like blizzard or some shit. I'm stopping wasting time doing dumb stuff like play wow or watch funny youtube clips all day. From now on art is the most important thing in my life.

Below are some studies I did with Dave Rapoza and his sketch group The Crimson Daggers!
Join us every day at 9AM Dave -time (it's 3 in the afternoon for me here in Sweden) just check the blog for the time and subject.
I also got my first ever commission thanks to devianart. Nothing fancy or very original, but I just think it's cool I get money to draw, gotta' start somewhere I suppose.

    peace out!

Tried to color that last one, did black and white first then tried to apply some color with overlay etc. but it came out looking like pure ass crack. every time I try to use that technique it comes out all messy.

I needed a break from the studies and stuff, I did this from the top of my head. which seems to include boobies often. I need to do some more arms and legs, and everything else

A lot of updates, and they are looking good. That's great! If you haven't tried it already, try www.posemaniacs.com for figure drawing (the 30 second drawing in there). It's really great for learning to see and how to record the seen stuff as quickly as possible.

    Keep it up man!

    karantina: Thank you very much!

I did this one with no ref. to practice color, but I don't think it's anatomically correct. Knees and legs are my biggest problem atm. I think, I'm gonna start doing some studies.

Hey nice improvement in here man, i'm envious of your sketching skills in digital, your rendering is coming along really nicely too! - Keep this up and I'm sure you'll be working for that company of your dreams - don't worry you'll get there, at least you know what you want now!! I waited til waayyy too late to decide^^

    How's Schoolism treating you?

Bobby Chiu is a big inspiration for me and it's nice to see his influence spreading.

Nice work and great improvements. Remember that skin isn't just one color. It has yellows, greens, reds, and blues all working together to produce a translucent surface.

    Keep at it, good luck!

no87 Thanks man! Ye I agree theres a lot wrong with that one. As soon as I post stuff, I see 100 things to change

AlexTooth: Thanks dude I've been sketching with my tablet for 3 years or so now but I just started painting with it. Working on my rendering n' shit a lot nowadays.

DeeLock: Tack så mycket! (thank you very much!) I did Photoshop basics with bobby chiu and I learned tons from it. Like layer masks and adjustment layers and stuff which I had no clue of before but now I use it quite frequently. And he also showed some brief color theory and composition and other goodies. I would recommend it for someone that is rather new to PSP.
I would think doing some master studies would better my color sens and stuff? I've never done one before but I will.

Here is some from today. My life paintings is still pretty dull, I slacked off with the fabric. And a very crappy enironment

Yay, you're still updating like hell. Love it! I really like the value study in post #22 and also the last still life. You'll improve really fast if you keep this tempo!

Btw, jag har äntligen uppdaterat min SB, så ta gärna en titt om du har tid och lust. Kritik/tips mottages gärna.
