that last one looks pimp. only 2 crits, maybe lose the smoke drifting up to his face, and try breaking the gun up into parts that are shiny, and parts that are matte, it will make it pop a lot more. oh and the distant mountain looks a little unfinished to our right (his left). id check his anatomy as it looks a little Liefield's Captain America, but Im no expert on that at all so dont want to give any advice there. im sure others here can help tho.

apart from those minor bits, im liking it.

The Jesus picture has had me in tears, oh that's so funny. Great to see some updates, I've been getting CA withdrawl. I agree with Velocity Kendall, the smoke kida cuts the image in two and makes it seem a little bit weird. Other than that these updates are full of epicness.

Like a little human baby hatching from a Zerg egg, your
creativity has been reborn. Jesus vs Bruce Lee is up on
UFC 159, so do not blink, cause something big will happen.
You have an admirable ability to take a plate of Turkish
salad and turn it to anything starting from a nomad ogre,
to a molded sponge. Groovy pen sketches and game
concepts done in very high unmovable standard. Your
motivational power is fully contagious, and your art age
has just begun. Some day, not so far ahead in the future,
people and your followers will be kneeling before your
majestic throne. Tickets for your royal dome will be
highly priced, and sold out in a rapid fashion.
Take care and keep on creating more
    beautifulness.

Velocity Kendall - "it looks a little Liefield's Captain America" ... holy god... is it that bad?! hahaha damn, i dont really see it, but maybe the neck seems stretched? i dont really know, and yea, its still a wip, so those background mountains are gonna get some more love as is the rest of the piece. lose the smoke trails? i thought that might be a good way to bring the viewer's eyes up to his face from the foliage. sort of accentuate it? i dont know. ill try out a few different things with it. thanks for the input buddy! as always , much appreciated!
SpaceJelly - hmmm, i didnt think the smoke was very prominent, but i see what you mean. thank you for the kind words, and the advice!
LtPlissken - you are a glowing light in these dark times my friend haha, i love it when you stop by here! some of the best comments i have ever received have come from you good sir! so, from the very bottom of my icy heart, i thank you!! keep being awesome!!

Can i ask how you painted these? LIke brush opacity and stuff? Like did you do gray and white and color over that? i haven't found a good painting mode that feels natural. Some people do the whole thing black and white, then color over it, some do line art, and color right on top of it...i haven't found what feels natural, but your finals looks soo nice!

Dave'sWarmInsides - hey man, thanks for checking out the thread! glad you found it worth while! i cant remember if i posted in your thread or not, but if i havent yet, i soon will! im super busy at the moment with school and things...
SpaceJelly - thank you! looking back on it, i really should have varied my brush size.. especially for the shiny skin pores. but i guess with blurred vision it comes off decently haha.
NakedZergling - hey man, the first one was painted over William B. Hand's shark sketches. i took the photo he uploaded and brought it into painter, then on an overlay layer i blocked in the colors, and finally did the finished rendering on a new default layer on top of the overlay layer.
for the second one, that was actually a photostudy that i did just using a hard edged round brush, by blocking in the basic shapes, (in color) and then gradually defining form and details through rendering. i think i also made an overlay layer to boost the saturation, and finished by rendering the final details on a top default layer. my approach varies quite a bit, depending on what im trying to tackle. for instance, if i am thinking of painting something in a painterly style, i will usually be thinking about brush work, values, color, reflection, lighting, bounced lighting, etc... and will usually begin the painting with thick paint strokes, and gradually build up details by refining forms and cleaning up edges and stuff.
however, if i am thinking of drawing, or something that requires solid linework i will go about it very differently. i will begin the painting by first establishing the lines. and in this approach i will try to focus on things like perspective, shapes, overlapping forms, contours, line weight and everything else that comprises line work. once the linework is established, i will usually turn the layer into a multiply layer, and on another layer underneath the lines, i will make a new default layer and begin to block in values, using the same thought process that i used in the first painting process. and then an overlay layer on top and block in colors, and finally a default layer on top to build up the final forms and edges. and there you have it! hope that helps man!

Hey man you have some pretty cool work going on here, like your loose gestural style a lot espc the stuff your a doing in ink. The zombie sketch is pretty collie the way he is disintegrating maybe his chest is a bit small in comparison to the rest of his torso though.Keep up the hard work its clearly paying off.

i like how that cover comes along. looking forward to see it finished. but as velocity mentioned something about the chest/shoulder/upper arm area seems a little bit off. i'm no expert and not sure at all, but maybe the shoulder is too much to the front? but i love the face and the style.

and btw the line drawing in #2267 is pretty cool

Lovely work mate!!!You have solid stuff going on, although i would play a little more with line width, and when working the figures on space, i would try to render out the outlines [just because it tends to flatten. Maybe use some greys instead of black outline.
    keep up the great work

kingkostas - thanks man! for dropping by, and also for the crits! i think your talking about the alien design right? and if thats the case, then yea i really could push it a lot further, rendering up the edges and stuff, lose the lines... but unfortunately its for my senior game project, and i have a ton of nonsense designs to work on as well, and i have to start banging out z brush work on top of that, so i have to try to pump these out as fast as i can.. but i see what you mean, and it would definately bring the whole design forward more, less flat looking. ill try to spend some more time on the next one, and take your advice! thanks again K!
