    Hey

Drifting is maybe a term I just use, but it applies to when your pencil drifts on the page out and it causes distortions in what you're drawing.

There's an example attached, I do it all the time too, but I think the way to stop it is using construction lines to show the limits of the shapes.

Well, I wouldn't see it as making awesome master studies, you should learn from them as much as you can. My last one, I learnt how awful my observation is..

Looking good but study some more anatomy!

    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...&postcount=170

That sandman thing looks great, very nice concept, I'd try to take it a bit further!

The digital studies of facial parts are looking killer, nice stuff!

Yeah I'll study more anatomy for sure, I have been doing some but I guess I need to do bunches more

I'll probably do that with the sandman but it's for a client so I don't really want to do anything before he has his say on it. If he don't like it at all I'll probably make it a personal project.

    Hey Conny

The value studies are looking very good, I'm envious!

Face painting - I really like this painting, you are showing a nice bit of lighting across the face.
One thing, what about the cast shadow onto the forehead from the hair?

I haven't done any studies today, having one of those days so I decided to draw whatever I feel like sooo here's two quick paintings. The last one is extremely speedy.

    Well, atleast I drew, right?

    Thanks Cliff!

These are studies from today (noses) I'm only half happy with them.. And I need to post more often.. I have more to post too but that stuff is in my sketchbook. But that doesn't mean it's a lot either, it isn't. I need to put the pedal to the metal.

    Hey Conny

The nose studies aren't bad, maybe just a case of more tightening up on the render and values as they near the contours.

Good luck with your next studies.

Nice quicks, I like them a lot.

You could try some 2 minute ones and then compare them with your 30's to see any differences or for interest's sake.

Sometimes force yourself to seek out a particular shape.

Pencil portrait - try practice longer and smoother strokes, especially for things like the jaw and chin area.

Okay, go hit that next batch of studies!

Kungfoowiz: Thanks for the comment. I don't think I'm the greatest drawer/sketcher there is, but I like the sketchy lines in a sketch so I dunno if I completely agree on that thing. Thanks for the crit tho.

Well it's a nice rendering, but I recommend you to use sharper brushes for the reflection on the flesh. However there's a lot of anatomy need to be studied. I can only advice to buy some books about that. Also a quick tip for head - before doing nose, lips, chin and other stuff first of all draw a 1-2 ovals, which represent overall shape of skull, then define line of symmetry, and then add crossline which will define lines of eyebrows, eyes, nose and lips. If you doung profile, or 3\4th i hope you know, that usually top of the ear is on the same level as eyebrow, and the bottom is on nose's tip level.

Hope it would help you - keep working mate!

Seraph Fawkes: Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'm aware of those things but I don't really know how to use it properly to be honest. That's why I do technical studies cause I'm like that.. I need to know the technical stuff completely before I can use those quick things or something,, Dunno why it is like that, maybe I just don't understand it And; I have anatomy books and I haven't been working from them lately D: I totally should.. Thanks for the comment though, I appreciate it greatly!

    ---------

    Work from today.
I haven't done ANY studies today D: Felt really crappy today. But I got a tutorial from Massiveblack downloads and I learned some neat stuff so I learned something! So anyway, here's two pieces.

    For work, far from done!

Studies from today. I'll continue sketching but I'll post them tomorrow.
Watched a long movie today, Orphan, (that kept freezing D: ) so it ate up some time. But I did something at least.

I need to get my scanner working again :/

Photostudy. Always wanted to know how to do that transparent thing.

This day was pretty okay. I was very low on energy in the eavning so I took a run, had a shower and ate. Then I felt better. Got to get some exercise again. Been waiting for the snow to go away WITH NO FURTHER ADOOOOoOooO

I seriously need to start scanning my crappy sketches D: I'll try to do that tomorrow if I get it to work.

Quick and bad selfportrait. First time I ever paint myself.

Ok let's see.. Head studies - trying to figure that crap out I've sucked at it for so long D:, arm studies, gestures, and two portraits, the first one is so much better than the second one D: I need practice at this.

Soooooo I'll make a self portrait every single day from now on!

Now I'm off to watch some movies and stuff, i do that every weekend.
