this is a sketch done in class on my notebook. (they actually encourage that where i go to school)
obviously not done, and never will be.. but for some reason i love this.
o.. and anyone is free to say whatever they want about any of my stuff.
Heya
Well I think you shouldn't post stuff from a few months back, but from now.. What you did in the past month.
This would help to understand what you need to improve and what to give crits on.
The lifedrawing thing looks really nice, and this last thing looks cool too, but a bit weird because some proportions aren't good (waist too thin).
But just draw more and post more, and you'll get some good crits ^^

here's one i did last week. i don't have a scanner, so i can really only post digital stuff and semi-old stuff... and i lent out my wacom so i can't do digitals at my apt for now.
the assignment was to turn the old man into a character.
10 min total. (2 min w/ reference)
not perfect, but i really like his chest and stomach area.
scan didn't really come out all that great either

figure study.
the assignment was supposed to be 20 min, but i think i only spent 10-12 on it.
You seem to be at a good starting point. Keep going and keep up the good life-drawing!
If the "stoner" part of your name refers to getting stoned, I suggest that you don't mix art and recreational drugs. Learning happens much faster when sober.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.
Perspective 101, Concept Art 101, Games Industry info,Oil Paint info, Acrylic Paint info, my sketchbook.
no. it doesn't refer to recreational drugs of any sort.
i'm a good kid, i promise.

i'll post when i can. i'm taking my sketchbook to class, though its a business class that i don't get, so i may not be able to sketch much.
hopefully friday at work i can post up some of the digitals i've done while there.
mostly gestures, but meh.. i like them anyway.
no reference. did it yesterday. prismacolor pencil.
posting stuff i do at work on a wacom.

Welcome to CA, great start to your sb. Keep drawing the figure from life and other means you have available. When there is no model, draw from anatomy books. Mentler is a good source here on the site to draw from. His sb is uaually on the front page all the time. Keep up the good work!!, thanks for stopping in my sb.
Hi stonecurly. I like the drawing from #5. I think your figures have a nice and round feel to them.
Heya![]()
I like this one a lotWhat school are you in and what classes are you taking there? You seem to get nice assignments
About the digitals: I'm wondering; why don't you use the pen pressure?I usually use a hard round brush with the pressure set to opacity. I think this can give a nice effect easily, you can use it to block in colours nicely and all. I like the digital drawings, but I think they're a bit too messy because of the small brush with 100% opacity.

i go to Art Institute of Phoenix. i have an exellent "advanced drawing for animation" instructor. thats really just a fancy name for life drawing for animation.
he gives us some really crazy stuff to do to help us learn anatomy without reference. we generally do between 20 seconds and 3 min drawings.
good thing to try... draw from a model holding a pose, then stay in the same spot, but draw the model as if you were 90degrees to your right.. then 180, then 270. it really helps with visualization. also can be done by imagining the model rotating 90 degrees toward you ( so their head is closest to you and feet farthest away.
anyway. i do my digitals that way becuase i'm in animation. using lots of lines at first gives you a better idea of were the real line should be. these are like 30 second ones i did at work. i do use opacity usually, but it was kinda hard to see in red, so i stopped.
i'll get around to posting probably next week. we have midterms, they are killing me right now.
and i've been wrapped up in developing a complete idea for a video game. to my suprise, its lots of fun.
its not super great or anything.. but its my design for a character that i'm doing a maquette of for business class.
it only took me about an hr or so.
and anatomy based on .... batman.
pencil and photoshop.
(the character is for a video game that i have an idea for.)

and don't ask about the little armless guy with a giant head and a cape.. cuz i don't know.
i know this isn't really a concept art kinda thing..
but this is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry i've made.
his name is Gustav
please ignore the bottom left thing. its hideous.
comments? crits? anything to help me out?
Hey stoner, thanks for dropping by my corner of CA. Sorry if my reply was like days late, but I wasn't able to get a hold of a comp with net. Anyhow, you got some nice stuff, but I have to say the level doesn't seem quite consistent. I mean, you got nice stuff, and then you got stuff that's waaay nicer, lol, if you know what I mean.
Anyhow, thanks again for dropping by dude!
thanks couchpotato.
any comments/crits are helpful.
i know my consitancy isnt great.. though the first two are old.. and the amount of time i spend on things varies.. i just try to post whatever i can.
a drawing of one of the better models to draw.
don't remember how long we had on this one.. not more than 15 anyway.
in verithin colored pencil.
and again.. i'm doing this to learn, so anything you have to say, please do.
same model. i think i have a problem with making the torso too long lately.. i think this one was a 15 min.
all of my stuff is done on 11x14 paper.. except my sketchbook pages.
same model.
5 min.
he has no teeth.. so don't worry so much about wierd head proportions.. i guess.
and he's missing a thumb.. so yeah...
crits?
