    Pull yourself together, Vy!

Hey there guys, I've recently come back to art after taking time off. I haven't truly been able to draw for about a year and a half which was torture. Now I've just recently come back on wobbly gazelle legs to find I had predictably backslid. So here's me aiming to not only get back to where I was, but surpass it within the next few months.

and here's some stuff from the past few weeks after a few weeks previous of just drawing lots of lines and circles with no purpose Hopefully I'll post as much as I can on here, though I'm not sure if I'm going to post everything I'm doing, good and bad, or just the highlights. Not sure what my ego can stand these days. We shall see!

Any and all comments are appreciated, thank you in advance, and apologies for the noob!fumbling.

Short day for art stuff, about to go on vacation and there are strings that need tied. More stuff soonish

Oh! And thank you Rosesor and xNatje for the kind words. So far I'm posting pretty much everything I'm doing in a day. Unfortunately I only get a few hours chunk of time to draw per day so it leaves what I can post very limited. So yup, this is it.

Was on planes all of yesterday so I didn't get much done and what I did get done is questionable and unfinished. But! Good with the bad, right?

Just got back from vacation started back in with some portrait stuff with the goal of pushing proportion on a reference face while also getting a refresher on skin tone.

    Hey,
great colors and and great looking characters, i would suggest working a bit more on the anatomy, especially on the lower parts of the body (legs, feet...)
but overall great work so far!

    Keep it up!
    Cheers,

Wow, post some of your 'bad' stuff please so I don't have to feel so ashamed of my work! Your stuff is looking really great - I love your style. You have so much imagination in your character designs, too . Very much looking forward to seeing more! And I hope all these positive comments are boosting your confidence .

Didn't have much time today so used the couple hours I had to do some foot studies and doodle a character design which is in no way done, it was pretty much just there to keep me from tossing myself off a foot induced cliff.

Also, don't google image the word "feet". 50% of it is terrifying.

Lionheart - Heh! Thank you! This whole thing has been coming back to me slowly. Everyone here is helping a ton. I hope you enjoy my further updates!

Fallen - Thank you thank you thank you, and as you can see, I totally agree. Feet make me wanna punch myself in the face, but here I go.

BlackDelphin - Thanks! I always worry I'm oversaturating things, but... then again, I kinda find myself not caring, as it is fun. (and I had a great vacation, thank you )

Bobtail - Augh, my bad stuff. The way it kind of goes is I'll see it going bad and abandon it pretty early on so there's very few which are worth the showing. As of now I'm trying to post everything I do in a day. (Also I took a look at your stuff, and shush, there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.) The comments mean the world to me thank you, again.

So let me get this straight. You've recently got back to drawing after being ill but you haven't been drawing much for the past year and a half?
If I did get this right, then I have to tell you that it doesn't show you took time off from drawing but then again,I haven't seen any of your stuff before the "vacation".
I think you're really good and in a few months, you'll be pawning the forum with some awesome stuff!

P.S: The readhead is hot!Put in a good word for me,maybe she'll give me her number.

The last two days have been incredibly uncooperative with drawing. I don't know what was wrong with my hands but I couldn't make anything come out of them that was good. So I carved out 8 hours today and just... did... everything. It still pretty much sucked but it got better over the day.

I pretty much just clawed at my brain until art fell out and it's still meh. But it's there.

Lateman - Thank you thank you! I still have more to learn for skin tones (was trying darker ones today) so thank you for the compliment.
Takeshan - Ah! Hi! Thank you for stopping by and taking a look. It means a lot.
Kriss - Believe it or not yeah, most of the stuff I lost over the break was the quicker techniques I knew for painting, color choices, things like that. (and her name is Jane. I recommend sending her candy, that always helps.)
    Betty - Thank you!!!

great work overall, I particularly like the woman with the red hair further up. You seem to have a good sense of colour and values, the only critique I have so far is on a couple of the portraits just keep an eye on the proportion and placement of the features. I know you were trying to push them, but a couple seem a little odd to me.

I really like the little blue angel-poses panel. They have a lot of personality to them. My character drawings always look like crap. I suppose I should do as you do and draw more than the anatomy reference poses.

Back when I first came back from non-artiness a couple months back, the first thing that was on my mind was a lot of Marvel stuff. Both movie related and from 616. So I ended up drawing a lot of things from that, particularly Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Cap, as they're easily my favorites.

So here's some stuff... which is wobbly but I still like a lot of it. Disregarding trashy backgrounds and the unfinished-ness, it's what drove me to get back to drawing and I'll love them forever for that fact alone.

I have more stuff from this general stream, if anyone wants them I'll post them.

Robert - Thank you, thank you for stopping by and the compliments. I completely agree. Was a bit of an exercise but I don't think I've quite wrapped my head around it yet so it keeps coming out oddly
Ice - No, thank YOU for the visit . And whee! Do tell me how you end up replicating it, I can't remember how I draw hair 90% of the time.
Kevin - Thank you! I plan to
    Conforimor -
David_a_ray - I'm glad you like. I was trying to figure out how to do a character with wings but no arms. Was a bit of a ride. I also highly encourage designing from imagination. I got stuck in a rut of only doing stuff from reference for a long time and I forgot how to just freehand stuff and imagine. Was kinda scary.

More recent stuff will probably be up early tomorrow morning. Just wanted to toss this up here.

Looks like you're doing some pretty nice work here .

A word about your "lights" though, they aren't really reading as light sources imo. Lights are very bright in the center(even white a lot of times) and have soft outlines of color depending on the source.

To illustrate, the left is how a light should work(according to my knowledge of lights anyway), the right is kinda how you're painting it:

Congrats for this nice thread to see I'm sure you will adopt a good coloring system and at the moment I already like the way you colored them. Do you use some custom brushes or just the ordinary PS?

Work for a prompt on CGhub. I'd love any and all feedback on this one in particular. It's probably 25% done, but the guts are all there.

Ambiguity - Lighting makes my brain go mushy so thank you immensely for the pointer. I'll keep that in mind for the future.
Kitana_mk - Thank you thank you . As for right now I typically only use basic brushes, barring a few specialty things here and there, like short fur.
