    Cintiq 12wx or Intuos 2 ?

    Hi there!

I've been using my small Intuos 2 for years and finally thought about buying a new tablet, probably a cintiq now.
The idea of lying on the couch with a tablet on my lap seems to be a striking one... also no cold hands while drawing in winter...
The problem: there's no way that I can test a new tablet first, I just can order at the official wacom store and then.. surprise.
I'm not someone who has the time to draw everyday, I'm using my tablet 1-3 times a week, sometimes, if I'm busy, not even for weeks.
Would you recommend a Cintiq 12wx to me or shall I stick with my Intuos 2?
My Intuos 2 is still ok, it's just so damn small lol

I would upgrade to a larger intuos 3 or intuos 4 if you are serious (6x8 or 9x12). I had the 12wx cintiq and I did not like it. Not much screen area and there was some lag issue. Some people seem to like it tho. But the cost of a 12wx used is around 750+...you can get a really nice tablet for less than 50% of that.

The 12wx just isn't worth the price compared to the size of Intuos 4 you could get. I have an Intuos 4 and I'd hiiiiighly recommend it.

Everyone's different, personally I have 12WX and I find it much better to draw with than an Intuos, it's much more accurate and far less tiring.

Depends on your personal taste, really. I just switched to a cintiq 12 after ~7 years of using an Intuos 2 and I just fell in love with it. If I use a non-cintiq tablet now it feels unnatural and awkward to me.

See if you can find a store where you can try out models of tablet. I was lucky enough to find a store that had the cintiq 12 and the 21 out for testing. I noodled around the the cintiq for an hour or so before I felt confident that it had the right feel for my work style.

considering your drawing habit, I'd recommend getting an upgrade for your intuous 2 instead. Wacom 12wx worked fine for me, but I think it has room for improvements, which will likely be realized before long. It also costs a much bigger chunk of change than a regular intuous.

If money isn't a problem, however, cintiq is the go.

I've also recently picked up a tablet PC... the pressure sensitivity isn't all that on it, but it's much more portable than any regular tablets, so it's ideal for sketching on the move.

Thanks for yours thoughts on this, everyone!
I think I'll give both things a try and order a Cintiq and one of the bigger Intuos 4.
So I can test both and send the one back that doesn't suit my preferences

i have 12wx and intuos 3 6x8, 12wx is better. no lags or delays for me.

yes there are some drawbacks because of the technology, but you can paint on the screen, the size is good, but u need 2nd monitor for place tabs and other palletes. use 12wx at full screen and u wouldn't need 21. the price of the 12wx is high because of the IPS screen btw.
