You are doing good here. I added you in my sig.
I'm not sure how you work, but I'd suggest starting to add stronger values on the frog to build up it's solidness and also figuring out it's general structure to start applying light on it.
The wasteland bard is cool as hell though!
    Keep it up man.

edit. We both added another page to our sketchbooks, what the hell.
    Let's do this.

    Talking

Rotor: Thank you! I'm glad you think that I'm doing good and I'm also glad you like that bard . Also thanks for your suggestion, it makes sense. I often went too expressive and got confused. To be honest, I am not so sure how I work, myself, especially when doing a painterly approach... that actually haunts me, especially these few days.
Oh and, also also thanks for adding me in your signature, that's really an honour. I'll just do the same
    And yeah, let's do this!

    ---

Now here's a recent study, actually a copy from a painting in some children storybook I read at a friend's house... I forgot the title but it has some good simple paintings in it. I should borrow it next time

Hey witcrack, thanks for your comments in my sketchbook! You have some good progress in here, but I haven't been seeing to many focused studies, maybe try some more of that, either way you are doing good, just keep studying lots!

Haha the frog reminds me of a game I use to play a long time ago (Not frogger) lol Can't remember the name of it. Anyway it's great seeing you active dude
About your question in your last post. I don't know if this answers it but basically
OI'm doing a lot of grayscale renders both pencil and digital from coloured pictures.
so training myself to see the value in colour.
It's quite essential doing things traditionally in my opinion because I've noticed when I do stuff traditional I learn soo much much in terms of value and drawing overall. because there is a strict process, more restricting than that of digital. with digital you can do soo many things to do a study that although you may finish it good the actual process may be a mess.
Let me use karate for an example. a simple punch we are trained to throw it from the hip in a straight line to the target: clean, fasted way from A to b.
a messy punch would be one that is thrown and is flailing all about the air before it hits it's target. some many steps. hard to remmeber such a abstract movement. simple road much more effective. that is the traditional method i ma talking about with art.
I hope I made sense lol.
that being said, a tradional method would be working from light to dark just like rendering with a pencil. Do everything on one layer if you don't already do so when studying.
I'm also noticing the strokes in your digi studies seem to be the same consistency.
which tablet or program are you using?
If I happen to comment on your sketchbook, please don't feel obliged to comment on mine. use that time instead to get back to work.

    Red face

    Kai: Thanks
Justin: hmmmm... focused studies... it has come to that, hasn't it? can't avoiding it forever, can I? Haha. Thanks for reminding me, man. I'll keep that in mind and try to do it
luther: Thanks for the awesome feedback. I really appreciate it Yeah you are totally right about doing some traditionals. I learned the most about art when I was doing it. It's just irreplaceable. I should do that more now so i can be a bit more methodical. Heeeeeyah!
Now about my question a page ago, I don't think I made it clear, sorry but I was actually wondering, how I can paint a realistic colours from imagination. I do all the studies to store infos in my head so I can recall and load it out when doing stuffs from imagination. So I studied colour theory and copying photographs and paintings, but still, I don't know how to make all that infos in my head useful... all I can do now is to be patient and just do trials and errors... or maybe that's that, huh?
I am using Painter mostly, it's my main tool but I also use Photoshop for complex layouts and compositions because Painter sucked in that, if I can be frank in my opinion. Heheh. I use a Bamboo Fun Small Tablet. Need a larger one though. It hurt my wrist (yes, it forces me to draw from my wrist! )

    ---

Okay so, um.... no painting today but I just made me an ambigram Flip it and you can read my real name
