    Eiki - Thank you

Lord M - Haha, yeah! it would go something like.. Misty: "Ash, I don't think you should go near those things.."
Ash: "Awh, relax Misty, look at them, they're so cute and cuddly and.. *chomp*
    Tack så mycke!

    Metal Fingers -

Hiya, working on the Art Order challenge, check it out here! - http://artorder.blogspot.com/2010/02...challenge.html
juggling between this and my 3ds Max projects. I've been neglecting both for ever..
Can't decide whether to call this creature "Wet Pussy" .. "Catfish" or "Shigark"
been looking at Cole Eastburn's stuff.. so goddamn friggin' inspiring I could cry, but I won't cause that would make look like a sissy. I love how he renders in gray, could say this piece is inspired by him and Kekai Kotaki. Not so happy about the head.. want something badass! doesn't look like a mutant right now.

Like the new one you just started. It looks a lot like one of the designs you put forward in the freestyle creature design round that I really liked. Looking forward to seeing more on that one.

Oh, I love the latest creature! It looks so proud, kind of like a lion, but a lot more stylish. The way you've played around with textures looks great.

... and by the way, your monster pika's own the real ones
(did I say real? Well, ok...)

it's funny how we can be on the top of the world one day just to fall all the way down again the next.
    Isn't that just the truth.

Liking the dark Picas a lot, even if its loose. The gritty/dirty expression is very appealing to me.

Jeg blev overrasket over at få svar på Dansk haha. Man kan næsten sige jeg er halvt Svensk; mine forældre bor i Skåne =) Jag pratar Svenska, men jag är inte so bra på det... Skitbra SB - kör på!

Those Pikachu are truly horrific, haha.
I recently played Platinum myself, about 10 years since I played Blue on the original GB. Its still pretty much the same game, and still addicting as hell :p

    Superema - Haha thanks!

Oren90 - Haha! yeah I'll definitely work more on the pikachu, right now I have to prioritize. Thanks

Si_Swe - Yeah, I thought it looked a lot like the avatar inspired lion-thing I made, it also looks a bit like a pokemon..

Mokinzi - Hi! Thanks, felines are proud creatures. Haha, everyone knows Pikachu is real.. .. ..... no? aaaaawh.. there goes my childhood

Genius_Malignus - I'll try to keep the gritty feeling. I'm not good at working with textures.
Haha fedt! jeg er ikke særlig go til Dansk, hvis ikke Mozilla hade stavnings kontrol hade jeg skrevet som et lille barn (og min grammatik er ikke at tale om) bor du i skåne?

    Krel
    - Haha, I hear ya. Pokemon is so addicting..and now that Soul Silver and Heart Gold is coming, I'll have to resist temptation

Hey everyone, thanks for your kind words! I'm pushing this piece forward little by little. Basically just following wip steps from Cole Eastburn. Here are the wips - http://conceptart.org/forums/showpos...postcount=1083
Don't know what I'm doing But it's fun haha. Wish I could present more work, but I don't have any. As soon as my 3ds max projects are done I can start going artsy again.
    Thanks for now

I still don't think it feels mutant enough, I think it needs some more abnormal surface details and such, plus I'd render out that greyscale a bit more before hitting it with the overlay, be sure to actually paint in color on top of the overlay layer as well, colepoopface does it when he works like you're doing and it turns out wonderful.

Cool design, but the face doesn't read well for me. Looks like it's just sitting on top of the body rather than being turned round, maybe refine the neck area to show some twisting. Not sure about the angle of the head either, the angle looks a little extreme, but maybe you're going for that, I mean owls can turn their heads right round. I actually think the head looked a lot more believable in the greyscale wip, but maybe you want it to be unusual, it's tough when the creature is imaginary lol. And yeah, Cole Eastburn and Kekai Kotaki are nice inspirations, have fun and keep it sexy.

Hye just dropping a quick note. Thanks for the nice comments!

    Oren, thanks!

Metal Fingers, I hear you man (no worries). That's how I use to work. I normaly just wash in gray but this was a more rendered gray version. It's definitely far from finished, and, there's a lot of molding with top layers of colour and so on. It might look much different later, thanks for noticing though! And regarding the mutant part.. I will definitely be adding some fucked up skin textures and exposed veins and gory shit.

    Nebo, hey! thanks

Man Made God, hey mate. Yeah I notiec that too, the face makes no sense. And there isen't really a neck there either. Something I might be re-working totally, will have to find a pic of a tiger or something. Thanks!

Witcrack, thanks man, spot on observations! It's like a picasso composition lol.. makes no sense. I'll get to it asap.

Thanks for all the tips and info! you guys are awesome! again, I like to have some art with my replies but this time I'm cornered. I'd just let you all know I'm aware of these things and thanks for pointing them out too!

On the snake piece on the last page:
I think you could strengthen the composition by making the snakes create a more of a circular composition. The white snake kinda breaks the circular motion.

Another alternative would be to make the flow travel to the center where the action takes place.

I'm sure there can be some playin' with that.

    It looks pretty sweet otherwise.

    Hope I made some sense,
    ha en bra dag!

Nice progress on the creature. Apart from what has already been pointed out, I also think the hindquarters could do with some more attention. As it is it seems a little too loose, and undefined, compared to the forequartes. Are those things on its back wings?
IMO they would benefit from being a bit more dramatic, or something...
I think the highlights are nice, and help make it pop.

Och nej min mamma och pappa bor i skåne - jag bor i köbenhamn. (lol mit Svenske er rigtig dårligt)

Right now the only issue I have with the creature is that it's neck looks incredibly stiff... almost like it would be naturally positioned so the creature was looking 90 degrees to the left at all times. That couldn't be comfortable.

Love the creature. However, for some reason, he looks a bit flat in comparison to your other creatures. Not sure why. But I'm sure your not even done so it's probably a moot point.
Hopefully I'll have a decent sized update ready by wednesday! Gotta focus on a test first.

    MatejaPetkovic - Thanks!

Loathsome - Tack så mkt! points taken

Genius_Malignus - Thanks for the inputs, greatly appreciate it! lyder cool arbejder du med concept art eller noget lignende? (jeg er ret go til at tale dansk, men kan bare ikke stave det ordentligt )

    Metal_Fingers - Haha, can't you see they're tentacles?? (fins)

Si_Swe - Thanks so much! yeah I agree, it looks ver awkward.

    Mitze
    - Thanks!

    R a n d i s - cheers!

    Shadow Stalker - Thank you!

Kingkostas - sadly, no. Will do!

UmpaArt - Yeah I agree, I think it has to do with the values. Something weird is going on with those values thanks man, I'll drop by and check out the goods!

ARRGH! - haha your name sums up my state of mind, awesome! Thanks!

Hey everyone, Thank you so much for your comments and inputs. It really helps a lot.

I'm sorry I haven't been around, I just couldn't stand not updating any longer. Had to show something..
Where to start. I HATE 3dS Max. It's stupid, and insanely cool and.. did I say stupid? stupid.
It's a powerful tool nevertheless. However, it's not so intuitive, I find myself just pulling dots around like some kind of robot, it sucks. I love the whole concept behind 3d, and you can really do some amazing stuff with it, it's just so complicated though.

Good thing is I've finally made up my mind. This is the last time I'll postpone anything again. It's my fault. If I'd just stick to my projects in time, I wouldn't have to sit and learn 3ds max in 5 days.. This time I will learn, unlike the 1000 other times I've said I'd stop pushing things haha. All my life I've been fine doing all my work the day before.. that doesn't work anymore An unintentional rhyme.. how sublime.

So.. we have a final personal project thing going on in this 3d's Max course. And it can't get more convenient than this, GameArtisians.org has a challenge going on running up til May 22 - Link here - http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/s...612#post204612
Basically it doesn't get any better. Not only do I get to do my personal project how I want to, I get to combine it with the GA challenge and do it together with hundreds of talented artists, learning and sharing ideas and techniques with them - and better yet. First hand experience of concept to realization process!
    Talk about powerful portfolio stuff.

Anyhow, again, So sorry for being absent, I have been shedding tears over 3ds max, not done studies for days. Uploading some quick PS stuff I've done. And shit the proportions are catastrophe on the centaur, sorry.
It's all about time management really. If I took the 3 hours I spent on random stuff (youtube, tv, showering for too long) and put them into drawing istead, I would still have some pages of studies a day.
Oh and, my friend's parents had some beautiful art books, we're talking huge full-page stuff from Rembrandt and Michaelangelo. Holy shit it was like winning a lottery I got to borrow them and now I'll be devouring them! yeah! .. I talk too much, I know
    Laters friends!

Dude, that first character is just so cool man. Your so creative it makes me want to kill myself. Just kidding! lol...But seriously, good stuff man. Going in such a good direction.

(Since my semester is ending next week, I'm putting the update off a week so I can just get it all in at the same time instead of doing more than one)
Speaking of, on my final in my painting fundamentals class I'm taking a bit of inspiration from your stuff.

Lovin the troll as well as the centaur. The troll is funnier though, he got a mushroom patch on his back. Haha. That's creative. Now i'm wondering how's the devouring of the "lottery" book affect you in the next update . Cheers and keep it up!
