I'm very glad to hear from you. I just came home from a long day at the studio and life gave me a little bitch-slap on the way home. Anyway, I came home feeling drained and not particularly good about myself. Then I read your piece here and it really helped me put some shit in perspective. So, thanks, I guess. I'm really sorry to hear you've had such a hard time, and I'm hoping you'll get to a place where you can draw regularly, again.
As for the work, here's what I have:
With the illustration, I see the same problem I've seen in some of your previous work. The creatures are excellent, but the figure feels under-rendered in comparison, and the proportions are just slightly off.
The more cartoony stuff is super slick and really well done. I'd love to see you do more of this style, in the future. The one thing that bothers be is that certain pieces combine pure black lines with tinted lines, which tends to throw me off. All tinted, or all black lines, tend to give more unity to the piece as a whole.

Tobzart - Thanks bro!
HumbleHenk - Haha! kul att du gillar det
MightCrawler -
Rob Powell - Thank you! it means a lot
Virg - Hell yeah! Gonna paint myself back to health.. hehe. You're right, holding light in darkness is one of the greatest challenges we face as humanbeings. All we can do is do our best. Sometimes we just get lost..
Si_Swe - Thanks man! I'm glad that you got some perspectivesI probably won't be able to draw as much as I want before fall this year.. but trying to do a littlebit every day.
Also, thanks for the crits. Yeah, I totally hear you on the human character.. more practice! I'll think about that with pure tinted or pure black lines in the future. It's something I also felt distracted the pieces a bit.
Velocity Kendall - Thanks! Yes, I should give it some sort of plated eye-lid or defensive eye-protection mechanismI want to keep on rendering it so it's not lost yet..
Odayga - This is gonna be fun
Here's a study of two girls.
So.. I learned shitloads while doing this. I'll try to briefly summarize
-edges: Skin has so many gradients it was challenging to render it out, kept creating too hard edges. Also skin consists of many layers.. so I think to get a nice 'skin' feeling you need to render carefully on different layers and stack them on each other.. I did this on one layer so its kinda rough in its places. Definitely want to explore rendering skin more!
-saturation: Woa.. so much red! This is probably the greatest breakthrough I had while painting. These girls have really saturated and warm skin, and this made it a bit tricky while trying to get the right temperatures and hues. For instance, I noticed that as soon as I went a bit upwards in colour, towards orangebrowns rather than redbrowns, the orangebrowns were perceived as an olivegreen hue. Just from a tiny lack of red in the hue the temperatureshift changed the perception of the colour dramatically. Fascinating.
-values: Contrast is pretty low in this one. It was a challenge to bring out form, because I kept seeing highlights as much brighter than what they really are in the picture. I quickly learned that the tiniest shifts in values do a lot to convey form.
It's so fun and refreshing to repeat old stuff and learn new stuff! .. also I couldn't resist adding a small *cough* fertility fountain
take care![]()
hahaha - that fountain,

So I can't really get much personal stuff done. At the moment I'm attending a 4week bartender course in Stockholm. I needed to change environment and try something completely new. Good thing is, I have never been so motivated to paint in a long time.. I come home completely exhausted from studies and bartendering and yet I find the time to paint for a few hours. It's freelance stuff though, might be able to show sooner or later. Things are clearing up.. Sunshine hides behind clouds
I really like this creature. Might touch it up a few steps later and turn it into a portfolio piece.
take care

LastGen - Thankswill do!
tehmeh - Soon to come in a pet-shop near you around christmas 2012! thanks, good to see you. Your sketchbook is so goddamn motivating!
Here are some quick earthelemental thumbs for COW 250 Aristotelean Elementals something something..- so far I like the big one to the right the most, it's the most abstract of them and says more elemental than creature to me which I like.
Havn´t been in here for a while, but your work looks good still! No surprise there!
I like the thumbs for this weeks COW you´ve produced. I think a mixture between the one to the right and the two to that ones left might be cool, since the siluettes on the latter two seems more interesting.
Keep up the good work!

Also, some pretty nice gag you put in your work :p
Keep it up man!
vvvery nice work. cant wait to see more
It is always very relieving, to me, reading about others who are not only able to pull themselves out of a severely depressed state, but also arrive at a place where they can be happy, productive and inspirational.
An amazing amount of perseverance and reflection is required to really understand and proceed to overcome this daunting roller coaster of life. Many never get past their hardships, often plunging them deeper into a false reality and eventually breaking them down disastrously further down the road. Its even more so that people just suffer the same recurring issues day after day never truly addressing their feelings or recognize that they even have problems.
I commend you on your personal triumph and artwork and hope that you continue to heal yourself and grow both as an artist and individual.
With that said, are you available for freelance work?
