Just a small update;mostly just sketching this week. Im leaving vegas in a week and 2 days and ive only got 4 days left of work!!! I hate packing :|

strange1900- hey thanks!the sculpture itself is actually a souvenir from caesars palace here in las vegas,and i just took some matte white testors to it. Its supposed to be nike i believe but from what ive seen its very different from the original sculpture. as far as reference goes, i dont use a lot of it,but i think i should use more. A good balance of life and picture ref is great. A lot of people say that drawing from life is better cause it helps train your eye more,also youre taking a physical object and turning it into pretty much an image on a single plane, while trying to keep that from looking flat. Its more fun that way too. But photo reference is great cause its always there,it doesnt move and you can photo ref things like deep sea creatures and what not

I love your moleskin stuff man, you've got a really nice pencil rendering style.
Weird question but what sorta pencil do you use? I've always just used cheapo hb and 2b and I think I need to start upping my game

Ive returned from the philippines and just finished my 3rd week at the atelier in sf, so things have been kinda crazy. Been on a mad job hunt and just settling in a new environment,but I'm getting a better feel for things and I'll update with my sketchbook and moar stuff sooooon!

Your anatomy and colours are really good. I also love your understated concepts, refreshing in a world of uber-swords and flashy outfits. Nice stuff.
I had a question, if you and Blue Severin were interested in another group member for teh team chow? I've never done one, but I will have time in january and Going by my sketchbook I think you can see that I am rather dedicated. Anyways I think I could learn a thing or two from you guys AND bring something dofferent to the group. My head is buzzing with ideas of all sorts, especially characters, so I'd rather enjoy working with you. A quick answer would help me, so that I can go on searching if it doesn't work out with us.

Janos - hey man! thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately it looks unlikely that we will be getting another team member for chow. Its just a bit easier for us and our schedules if its just us or someone in the same area so we can physically draw together. anyway its not completely sure that we will follow through and submit chow,it dpends on how busy things get at school; so we dont want to bring you down if we end up having to drop out. But thanks anyway for wanting to join us man, and best of luck in the arena !
