hi,, thank you for the kind comments
keep drawing and posting!
Just a quick one for today, life drawing of my stinky old shoe

Shading my friend, you need to work on that. Things are looking a little flat at the moment. Still, glad to have you in the Sketchbook section, see you around!
Today it's a face I've been doing on and off for a few days, enjoy
some shading for you Walnut(referenced)
Edit: Scanners on the fritz and I'm much better off working on a digital medium anyway, do I have to sketch in lead or will PS sketching suffice? anyway, thanks for stopping by![]()

Hey there! Thanks for droping in my sb.
I see that you also have potential, try to keep away from soft brushes ! ^^
Use chalk and Hard round with other dynamics set to pen pressure.
Looking forward for more of your work, so keep the flow coming!
P.S It is wise to generalize things that are in number of "bazylion" like hair for example. Simply draw some strands here and there in more important areas.
ICECOLD: Thanks for the tips, i'll take into consideration what you said on the next portrait I do, thanks again for dropping by![]()
Skeleton Study: Will try focus on using harder burshes, can kinda see faults caused due to using the softer variety, well here is an attempt at a skeleton, oh and the blur next to it was supposed to be a hand, thanks for stopping by![]()

Good, continue to work hard! If you give it your all, you will succeed!
The portrait looks good, but there are some issues with anatomy. The nose and shading of the neck suggests that her head is tilted upwards, but neither her eyes or mouth really says the same. Also, the distances from facial feature to facial feature isn't really suggesting tilting.
Take some time to study facial features at different angles, or draw from photos where people tilt their head. When drawing, try to really understand how and why the differences happen. Why can you see the underside of the nose? How can you light the neck to make it look like it's twisting or tilting? What distance is it from the nose to the mouth in different angles?
As far as the skeleton goes, it's a matter of measuring. Look closely at a skeleton reference. How long are the arms? The legs? How thick are the bones compared to each other? How wide is the body? Take time with these studies. Try to learn from them.
Icecold told you that you should use harder brushes, but he didn't tell you why. When you use harder brushes, you're forced to use more economic strokes and really think about where you place them. It will make you more confident and make your strokes look planned.
Now go draw some more!
A drawing a day makes the suck go away:

Hello again,
Ok i have another advice, leave the digitals for few months do theese kind of studies with charcoal or pencil in traditional sketchbook, it's harder thus brings better effects and satisfaction. If you do happen to work digitally again, dont' lighten up with white and don't darken with black. Use mid values darker red brighter red aka pink etc. Add in some more saturated colours in areas that are being hit by a strong light etc. Laso go andd check out bumskees digital painting in PS threads. Do this exercises everytime you have time to.
Become a slave of anatomy studies, many artists spent tons of hours on it, but now their work shine's as diamonds. Be patient, results will come. Cheers!
Was quite busy today so this is all I could come up with, its supposed to be a shoulderI'll start posting pencil work soon, scanners working so tomorrows entry will be in pencils, probebly some loomis
thanks for stopping by and a big thanks to all of you who have given me advise thus far

nice to see that you do so many different things =) Maybe I can give you some advices...
It's good, that you started to use more hard brushes. The muscles in the latest update looks great, much better than the paintings with soft brush before.
But if you know how, you can combine them. This tutorial can help you to decide where to use which brush if you are working on a picture. It is really an interesting and very useful tutorial for painting.
Another thing is, that you should learn to see. You made this shoe some days ago. It shows, that you see the shape, but not the real colours. Observe your surrounding carefully and ask yourself if the colours look really the way you think they look.
It's difficould to explain, but our brain likes it to make fools out of us. It says: oh, this thing is white, no matter which colour the light has. But: if you use red right in front of a white thing, it doesn't look white anymore. But our brains says it is white and we think we see a white thing.
Good painters have to learn to see what is really where and to paint it like that. That gives things a more natural look.
Maybe, it could be interesting if you open some photographs in photoshop (or whatever you use) and then pick some colours with the colourpicker and look, if they're the colours you expected. I think that's a good way to start studies about colours
I hope, I can help you bit with this advices. I'm looking forward to see more =)
And at least, I'm doing the Loomis things too![]()
Nephilie: Thanks for the in-depth analysis, will do my best to work on colours, but I think i'm going to focus on form for a little while, anatomy and gestures, thanks for stopping by![]()
nice work so far. Id suggest using a sharper brush. atm your lines are really fuzzy. Otherwise its a good start.
Loomis + a figure7 updates done, 358 to go

perspective for today, think I will post a study or some anatomy tomorrow, sorry for making such a boring SB, I'll post some nice stuff one day![]()

Armor study: WiP
Attempt at an armor study, maybe I should start posting some stuff from imagination? any thoughts (be warned I'm not very "experienced") but I guess that just adds to the fun, this way we can all have a laugh at my expensethanks for looking

Thanks for visiting my SB.
I like your #3 portrait. Sure there are faults, but we all have those, thats why we're here, to learn from each other. Definitely get onto those pencils man, there is no better way to learn, and you'll find your digital will progress a lot faster. Take your time with your pieces, don't rush, I did and paid the price, now I work real slow to try to get it right the first time, never do of courseIt's important to learn good rendering, and it will pay off in your digital work. Goodluck.
just from imagination for a change...gotta go, will reply to comments asap, thx for viewing (busy)![]()
sorry for the small post, I just got home about an hour ago and have been working all day... so here is a poor excuse for a post, i'll make it up in my next few, I'm going to start the pencil studies like I have been told to![]()
