Hi there. Although I have other sketchbook threads that I keep up on other forums, I've decided to make one here to get to know this community a little more.

Here are some sketches and colored works that I've done recently.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see the sketchbook rules 'til later. So, I'll attach the images instead. Also, the Raiho design is by Atlus and Kazuma Kaneko. I just sketched the Raiho plushie I have. Just wanted to get that out of the way.

I wanted to post my cave pictures in the "It's Finally Finished" section, but I'm not sure what CA's standards are there. So, I'll just put 'em here for now.

Good start for a sketchbook. I like the rendering you did on the Raiho plushie there. I think your proportions seem good and your posemaniac studies have pretty confident lines. That bird in flight with the red and harsh light behind it looks awesome. XD

I'm starting some color studies.

I don't think the method of adding black or white with a touch of a key hue works well with color pencils. It may work beautifully with paint, though, or maybe it's just there to demonstrate how colors in nature work.

Thanks for the drop-by-- returning same!

Your figure drawing looks pretty solid. Not sure what you're doing with the posemaniacs. If contoural stuff is the object, guess you're hitting it pretty well! Otherwise, I'd say experiment with drawing them more solid.

Character design looks like it's coming together pretty good. You should try to create some environments and props for them!

Anyway, keep posting!

I agree. I definitely think having the characters interact in their environment will help flesh out their personality traits. Will keep that in mind.

Here are some of my sketchbook entries from winter break 'til now. Also, I bought a mini-sketchbook for sketches on the go!

I want to do more landscapes and interior drawings, but they seem to take forever to finish for me. I get caught up in trying to measure every little detail accurately. As for the Bruce Hall drawing, I doubt I'll be able to finish now that classes have started. Plus, people keep moving the furniture around.

I made a masking tape shoe for a class assignment. It didn't come out like how I wanted it to, but at least I know how to make a shoe out of masking tape.

Just testing out India ink for upcoming figure drawing projects. It's a little difficult to use when you want to build up more than 3 values. It's even more difficult when you're forced to work quickly with it. D:

First one is on regular sketchbook paper. Second one is on a thicker all-purpose sketch paper. Next, I'm going to try out the ink washes on watercolor paper.

Hay Orochigenocide your work is looking strong so far a little tip that will help you is to paint through the object in your paintings on your value map, color map or how ever you layer the painting, trying to paint with in the object like your currently doing sometimes leaves a light edge to the outside of the objects and eventually the different objects have a light halo around them so its best to just paint right through the line and then come back and sharpen up the edges and makes it looks great. Another reason not to leave the white halos is because it flattens out the shape of the object and its hard to get a sense of depth in the painting. Just keep up the work and youll be fooling everyones eyes in no time

They're not paintings. They're pastel drawings. I'll keep that in mind though for future reference. Thanks for the tip.
