Here are a few more drawings. The guns are completely from reference. Does the last character look short to anybody. How can I fix this? Thanks for looking!
I figured I would add some color to my sketchbook.
Here are a few more drawings. I am not very good at acurately drawing peoples faces so I tried working on that a bit. Still need a lot of practice. The other images are just some random late night pencil movements. Sorry for the bad scan quality.
I have been practicing digital painting from life as well as some color studies. Here are some of the results. The first one is a quick painting of an M16 round laying on my desk. The second I just tried to match the colors with the original photo. The last painting I tried to depict sadness and depression with colors.
Here are some anatomy studies. P.S. need to work on HANDS!!
Football season is starting soon had to show my support. Go Colts!
Good designs and very nice digital paints. The pictures of the guns also look strong. You seem to be aware of what you need to work one. Anatomy mostly. How do you go about your training? Is there figure drawing classes were you live? Those are great. Otherwise working from anatomy books and pictures. Maybe going out and drawing people that walk by. This is very difficult but good practice.
Bergulf thanks! Right now I attend the Art Institute Online but I do most of my drawing from anatomy books and pictures of random people from the internet. I have one more year left in the Air Force then I am going to Gnomon School of Visual Effects to work on my foundation skills. Besides hands and feet are there other areas of anatomy that I really need to work on?
I really have to say that those gun sketches look reaaally good, well everything is nice and clean to be honest! And that bullet made me a bit nostalgic about my days in the army
.
I don’t think there is any area of anatomy that one should focus more on then the rest. Doing a lot of fairly quick full body sketches and trying to capture the pose and movement with minimal lines I think is good practice. Figuring out how all the different parts of the body move together and making it look convincing I think is the most important.
Here are some female body studies. There bodies are so smooth yet for me they are really hard to get right. The other images are doodles during John Mueller's portfolio class.
Here is an WIP I started today. It shows the beginning line stages into some color.
I see you like to draw monsters and guns.
looks like your biggest problem right now is anatomy.
I'll recommend the usual staples: George Bridgman, Joseph Sheppard, and Andrew Loomis. Get a book by each of these guys, because theres a lot of good stuff in it, and you can learn a lot by studying the drawings in them.
P.S. the magnum is *sweet*!

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach" - bullshit.
The usual staples for anatomy:
George Bridgman
Joseph Sheppard
Andrew Loomis
The finished self portrait and my first painting using Corel Painter from a couple months ago.
Walter Florian: portrait of auguste rodine (1904)
My first master study. It is really hard to find the exact colors without using the color picker, so this is a pretty shitty reproduction. I am learning though.
Can anyone tell me how to add my sketchbook link to my profile? I copied and pasted the link and it doesn't work. What is the correct way to do this? Thanks a lot!!
A creature I did today.
.....
Just finished this portrait of the wifey. I had a lot of fun doing this one and it actually turned out pretty good.
This is a WIP of warrior in ceremonial armor on the battlefield. I really need help with the armor. It is suppose to be gold but it doesn't look it. I have looked references and still can't get it right. Should I just over saturate the colors?
Nice progression. Keep it up.
Thanks Senk! Here is the final version let me know what you think of it.
Today I was sent home from work because I was sick so I took advantage of the free time.
for the DSG
Photoshop wan't nice to me today so I did some quick face sketches. The other two are a little older but I figured I would post them anyway.
still trying to paint...
Some Bridgman torso studies done today.
Some more quick studies. I am having a lot of fun with these and I feel I am learning a lot about anatomy and the human form.
