DeeLock - that's a great start, something makes her look flat though. I can't put finger on it but something with the corset doesn't fit with the angle we see her dress from.
Sorry for not checking by guys, I was sick for a week and I'm all fresh again. Don't worry about it Liffey, we'll finnish.
DeeLock: I went ahead and started working on another character because we just needed to get this show moving, and I wasn't seeing much input. I'm not saying my two characters need to be final, but there's only two weeks left, so I'm trying to keep as active as I can with this. As for our original concept, I do need to integrate that into the orc more, but since the big guy is a bit of a loner I figured he may not be influenced by fashion.
Critique for your character: Her outfit seems dificult to move around in, and doesn't really translate into a rogue character. I think if you integrated some of gabyness's sketches you'd end up with a more mobile and unque looking outfit, that would also be more likely to be seen in a high fantasy setting (remember, we're not going for all out France... the assignment is traditional high fantasy, so we want just enough of that French taste to make us identifiable).
started on my good druid. all messy linework for now.. will add items and such now, and define things.
*edit* added some equipment, right now he's up in a tree, but I think I'll portray him differently. Got a nice idea, also him looking away from the spellcasting makes no sense - so will probably have him facing what ever he is doing.

and now for some colour. Still no idea where to go with this, I've got the mood I want so now to just make the character stand out
Looks good, I'm intrigued to see where it goes.
You probably already know this, but to make the character stand out, you're going to need some kind of contrasting elements... for example have the background as primarily cool colors, and the character in warm colors... also make sure that the background isn't exceedingly detailed.
Thanks for the tip Liffey, I allways forget such things when it comes to background versus foreground.
Also I was a bit bugged with the colouring, I think they're too vibrant, which gives the piece a cartoonish feel.
Will have to sleep on it, some dreams and all will be good![]()
heres another idea for outfit design for the rogue..

Hey guys, sorry for my absence. I haven't had access to a computer for more than a couple minutes a day for the last week, and I just now got back to school. I'm going to be working overtime this week to make sure we finish this.
Thats great to hear Liffey! I think I'll finnish the good version of my druid tommorow, and then do start on the evil.
I was so into painting I kinda forgot our 1800th century theme.. It's not too late to fic it up though. Planning on re-designing his chest thingy anyway![]()
Here's a sketch for the evil orc. Dunno where I'm going with the background. Anyone can feel free to do what they will with these orc sketches; I'm gonna work on finishing the big guy now.
Okay guys, here's the situation: We've got just a day or two left to finish this. I'm going to have my evil big guy done by tonight, and the good big guy done by tomorrow morning. I'll then do what I can on the orc. Either DeeLock or DefiledVisions NEEDS to be done by tomorrow night. That would give us 3 characters. I reeeeeally hate to say it, but if we only get 3 characters done, we'd have to kick out papervampire (since he hasn't contributed yet), lowering us to 4 members and 3 required characters. It would be GREAT if both of you could finish and we wouldn't have to do this. Maybe you guys are super-fast painters, or maybe you've been working and haven't gotten to posting, but with such a short time left I'm getting nervous.
Remember, we also have to do write-ups for the characters.
Ya, I'll try and finish by tomorrow night.
I thought that papervampire made it clear that he wasn't going to be able to contribute, I don't see any problems with kicking him out.
Edit: Do we need WIP images for Team Chow?

Not sure... the topic with the rules seems to have disappeared. :|
Evil Big Guy for now, will go back and touch up if I have time. Or anyone else can feel free to do so as well.

Good druid.. face is so random heh, evil coming up.
A lonesome soul, Merehim wanders the defiled forests of Kandor in search for peace. Using his gift to bring new life into what once was decayed and rotten, a memorial more than a calling, he mourns the loss of one most dear to him. Waiting.. for the call that never will come.

Thanks, DF! btw, are you using painter?
And here's the bad Druid... I'm sorry Liffey, I was counting on having more time. My sister and mom both have birthdays after each other, so I was really busy this week. Started and finished this piece today, not as detailed as the other one... strange enough it looks like Matt Dixons workdont ask me why.. anyhow, hope the similarity is acceptable and that evil is obvious.
and for your question, nope, no painter - photoshop with some custom brushes.
Contaminated by the essense of Kandor, Merehim turned to the blood of innocence. For too long had he wandered among death and decay, seeing nothing but hatred. His once lifegiving gift was captured and twisted into a tool of darkness. He walks no longer as a giver of life, and no longer does he have a cause. He justs wants to see the world bleed as his heart could not.

oh wait.. deadline's tommorowI can still work them more! goodnight.
Finished(?) Evil Thief
Looks good, guys!
I wasn't able to work on the orc today... due to someone stealing my tablet while I was away from the computer lab. o_O The funny thing is that my seat is right in front of a camera, so whoever took it is pretty stupid, but they can't look up the footage until tomorrow. All we need now though is DeeLock's good thief and some descriptions, so we should be in good shape. I'll let daestwen and papervampire know that we're gonna have to cut that extra member.
Liffey: Don't forget that your images have to be 2:3 ratio. So that's 2 wide by 3 tall. They have to be vertical.
Daestwen said that they were being a lot more strict with format.
Good Theif:
Reformatted big guy. Now all we need are descriptions.
Wrote my descriptions. This can be adjusted depending on what you guys do. I'll be getting up early tomorrow, so if you guys don't have yours done I'll just fill it in for you.
Name: Narcelus
Race: Narcelii
Class: Brawler
Gender: Male
Good:
The last known member of the lost Narcelii race, Narcelus has been fending for himself in the forest for practically his entire life. However, early on he befriended a druid also living in the forest. Together they have survived in the forest while avoiding hunting teams from the nearby human village.
Evil:
The last known member of the lost Narcelii race, Narcelus has been fending for himself in the forest for practically his entire life. Due to being constantly hunted by a nearby human city, Narcelus has developed tremendous hostility towards humans, and none who have attempted to track him down have survived.
Name: Ophelie
Race: Human
Class: Theif
Gender: Female
Good:
Ophelie is a thief, but not in the usual sense of the word. She is more of a reclaimer someone who is able to relocate lost or stolen items. Items of much greater worth than any peasant could lay claim to. Her clients usually include lords and ladies who's treasure larders had been ransacked by bandits or jails who have misplaced some convicts. She was raised in a traveling circus and spent most of her formative years as a carefree girl. She is a free spirit and claims loyalty to no one.
Evil:
Ophelie works for the township as a gatherer of information and a woman who knows how to get things. Orphaned and homeless as a young girl, she learned the art of theft and the ability to avoid being seen to survive. Her formative years were spent alone and in darkness. She owes her allegiance to the lord of the land for giving her a home and she carries out his every wish, even dealing death at his word. She has become a bit of an urban legend, her masquerade mask has become a symbol of tyranny and fear.
btw, DF, if you finish your description tonight you can feel free to post this all in the final burning thread. Or I can do it tomorrow morning, doesn't matter, I think it should still be eligible.
edit: nevermind, i didn't realize you have already done those.

Alright, well I posted our work in the submission thread.
Good work everyone! I had fun, and I think we have a pretty appealing set of characters. I'm now off to start on the Battle of the Sexes contest... you three should do the same!![]()
