Hey guys.. Im always on trains and other outdoor places and I always want to draw people. What I have trouble with is how to approach a quick life sketch. Obviously were not going for a polished drawing with great likeness. Its gotta be quick and gestural. But I never know how to approach and begin it. For instance if its someones face.. do I really have the time to construct it like I would a normal portrait.. probably not. Do I do a contour type of drawing? Do I draw features? When I do actual portraits... I always try to avoid drawing features as individual objects on the face.. I try to build them based on the structure of the skull and face. Using values and line. But I never just draw features like theyre stickers on the face. So when Im doing quick drawings of people... how do I start? Is there a procedure more suited to quick drawings? I know procedure is a matter of preference.. but there must be a way to quickly capture things
