Obviously the characters would look different, and the background would actually have something in it

but just an idea playing with the different light sources, and colour scheme's.

Ideas for Dwarf Character:

Male:
Class- Thief:

Name: Cliffton Thumblebee (or something similarly dumb)

Cliff was always been a strange, even by dwarf standards.
At 40 years young he had not grown into the heavy round weight as his countryman, nor had he reached the normal height of his fellows. And most shockingly of all, (and to the disgrace of his family) his beard had not grown to the semi-bush shape that was expected for his kind... even his sisters beard had more bounce to it.

But being light weight, short, and with-out an hairy beachball in front of his nose had its advantages... especially for a life of crime...

DIEDRALIN: HUMAN SOOTHSAYER (Buffer/debuffer)

Diedralin's aura is immediately noticed by anyone--she carries such an air of confidence it becomes almost suspicious--Unknowing enemies often approach her in courtship only to be rejected by a quick whisper of death off her tongue. When Diedralin was born with her unique tongue, her clan immediately deemed her as a gift from the gods rather than a deformity--making her an apprentice to the current oracle of the clan.
She observes her enemies from afar to concentrate and gather all that is to be known about their next moves: letting curses slide off her tongue to weaken the enemy's intentions, and blessings to fortify her war mates against any damage she foresees.

HEDRICK: ORC MEDIC (PRIEST)

Hedrick was exiled from his homeland for his "distasteful" differences--he is rather calm for an orc, preferring to let the enemy come as close as they please and only striking them when necessary. Having extensive knowledge of brutal wounds (after all, he did come from a battle-hungry clan), Hedrick is capable of reversing damage and recycling it into small passive attacks. He rather enjoys this intelligent redirection of the enemy's hatred, instead of being the damage dealer himself--he finds it much more satisfying in quite a cynical way.

A quick update;

He said he's gonna be our cheerleader.

Our official storyline. (GOOD and EVIL will be replaced with clan names eventually).


The Earth has always been rich in mana energy--though it endlessly regenerates through cycles of life and death, it can only be found within certain areas of the land. The GOOD have always believed in cultivating this energy to create towns and stabilize peaceful villages that are in harmony with the Earth. The EVIL have desired otherwise though: accepting the reality that no civilization has ever been peaceful, and would rather harvest the mana to strengthen warriors and weapons to protect their homeland and retain traditional values--they do not want to mix with the GOOD; it would spoil their culture.

Due to this polarized situation, mana has been fought over--the winning clan gains the territory and claims the mana as theirs. Though the GOOD would like to resist fighting--they see the EVIL will not back down, and instead hopes that eventually they will be wiped out and all the land will be owned by GOOD and achieve their goal of total harmony. EVIL however does not back down so easily from their precious roots of strong warriors and isolation....




What this means for our portraits:

We will be working on designing "wells" of which the clans pull the mana from the earth--these wells should be included in your image. For now though, I highly doubt you will have a full planned out enviro, don't worry so much about that. Continue to work on the design of your character.
Please use references of HIGH FANTASY--remember we want to be unique within the genre--not stray away from it.

we will have a group crit tomorrow--just post your work here and just leave in-depth critiques of your teammates' work.

Great development granny, love it!

Talked to snootchy---we're thinking we should go more in the direction of rich fabrics (think the way the Victorian era utilized fabrics for different effects and stuff), instead of full on armor. Please view my post with the concept art for Granado Espada (Sword of the new world) on page 1 for an example of what i mean.


I am going to put up a list of Rankings in these alliance armies. You should decorate your character with badges/pins/insignia's to represent their roles.

so--just redoing diedralin's designs for the good alliance.


Played with color schemes---i prefer the dark brown scheme in the middle, but let me know what colors you'd like to use.

I was also re-reading Beowulf...and they had an interesting way of naming things.
by compounding words like "glory" and "spear" (Hrothgar). we could do something like that for the alliance names.

KK CRIT TIME: I'm only going by works posted today--as you post from now on, please take the time to crit your team mates, and your work will be critted as well.


So. mr grandmassa you are the only person to post so far today--I love seeing batches of work! : ) First let me say, I totally love the latest sketch of CABunny--she's absolutely stunning and alluring--great character coming through. I love the minimal clothing as well xDD (Haha i dig chicks too lol) but I think you could push the design even more--still going with minimal amounts of fabric, and keeping her sexy by being revealing.

Maybe play around with different hip belts you could put on her, or more elaborate gloves--something very exquisite and feminine, so she still has the class allure to her, but still keeps her attitude and personality coming through. I absolutely love her face! It so says "come here so I can kill you >:3" Perhaps look at some corsets/bodice references and enhance her one-piece there a bit. Overall, I like the structure of her outfit. : ) (And may i say, your anatomy has improved a lot!)


That orc is excellent. Great demonstration of power through the use of scale and design. Again, great structure to work off of--keep developing his armor and elaborate on his weapon (SICK DESIGN BRO! Totally dig it!) I love his face too--great job on this one man!!
