JaneMag Thanks! You're right, a fancy ray of light is always I a nice detail.
Today's attempt at painting a street scene. Not very happy with that. Had no time to finish the buildings and unsurprisingly they look pretty shitty.

Rough doodle from this morning. Didn't have much time so it's all just blobs of colours basically.

Before joining I tended to look around at all the amazing stuff that was posted in the sketchbook part of the forum. Really like your work. Great sketches, expressions and use of colour!
Coffe and Vanilla Thank you!
Forgot to update yesterday. So today there's more than one doodle!
First one was a faily attempt at a value study, the other two are photo studies.
Sorry for the lack of update - I'm still doing daily studies!
These are all photo studies from personal photos I took while I was in Osaka, Kyoto and London. About 1-2 hours each.

Great studies, Sabrina. I love that first image in your last post - I think that's the first study you've shown here where the lit surfaces are tinted with the color of the light illuminating the scene. I know that a lot of the time, the color of light is pretty subtle and hard to detect, but going out of your way to accentuate it will really help the sense of light and atmosphere in your work. I also really like the lily study because of its subtlety, not only in the rendering and nuanced values, but in the texture in particular. Keep up the good work!![]()

Absolutely gorgeous! I lived in Iwakuni, Japan for over two years and those last color pieces make me very nostalgic and a little homesick. They are spot on and very evocative.
Beautiful work, keep it up!

dierat Hi Diedra! Long time no see!Yes, light is really tricky and I still need to learn a lot before I can render this as good as in photo studies. Thank you!
B_h_bloomer Thank you! I was just in Japan for 6 month and I also feel kinda "homesick" sometimes.

Well yeah, totally messed up that "Updates daily!" thing.
But I was still practising and drawing some fluff.
First, more photo studies:
Some Legend of Korra fanart for fun:
Some character drawings for my comic project:
Hopefully the next update won't take as long as this did.![]()
But I see you on DA all the time! XD I don't comment unless I have something specific to say, but I look at all your posts :3
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I really like the last three and I hope to see more of this character soon! Also that doodlers challenge looks pretty fun; doing a quick study every day sounds like a great way to improve. Keep it up!

dierat Oh, you're the sneaky kind! Anyway, I'm always happy when you've got time to leave a post.
Thank you! That's actually the main character from my comic project - so you'll definitely see more once I get to continue the comic. I'm currently rewriting the next chapter but since I've got tons of other stuff to do it's progressing real slow.

So then, the latest doodles...

Awesome landscapes. I love all the texture you put into them, especially the most recent three. do you use overlay layers? or textured brushes? or both?
Metallurgist Thank you! I actually just used texture brushes in those. No overlay layers.
More updates!
The kitty is based on a photo ref, the rest is from scratch.
More environment speedpaintings - each about 1 - 2 hours.
I also did a few pencil sketches but I haven't scanned them yet. Currently fighting off a nasty cold so I'll do that later when I'm feeling better.
Time for new updates!
Environment doodles:
Comic related stuff:
In other good news: I'm illustrating my next children's book. It's from the same series I did last time. Deadline is end of May so there's tons of stuff to do for me. Off to work now!![]()
Great sketchbook with loads of great studies!
keep up the good work, you are definitely improving!
