The Burlesque Design-produced Sam Flores art print that . “Dragon Tree” is an 18″ x 18″ TWELVE color screenprint, has an edition of 50, and is $150.

The a sam flores print as you can see.

If you know anything about the low brow art movement, you know who sam flores is and if you are reading it here at CA , you know who jon foster is.
I liked sam flores shit, but now he a shithead to me.

Jesus, if the better artists do this shit, you gotta give a break to all those teens at DA.

Whatever, My moods pissed a bit.

If this is the original image: http://www.jonfoster.com/illustratio...d_herdsman.jpg Then the only connection I see is that they're both sitting on a tree. Oh. Yay. Controversy.

    Yawn. :|

Edit: Oh shit, wait a minute, I just realized the branches, leaves are the same, and I noticed there was also a dragon in the background - SHIT! I'm blind! ><

Holy shit; At the very least change the leaves up. I know Flores can draw leaves...come on.

    It's so obvious.

    imitation, flattery, etc, but still...

Foster's is way better btw >=)

Wow... I was just oogling this image from john in the latest imagine fx and noticed it right away. I hope the guy isn't an asshole and will respect johns wishes (though he hasn't already) and just get rid of the image.

Just wow. It's like he traced over the original image; the dragon's head is exactly the same! O.o Also, the pose in the original image is wonderful. The hands, the relaxed pose, the turned head. By comparison the female figure is stiff and enclosed; it's not interacting with the movement in the rest of the image.

Can't believe that flores did that. Probably just some kid trying to make some easy money. Think about it for a second, why would he rip it right off? Leaves, dragon, branches ?? Dosen't make sense to me.
Also no mention of tshirt prints on his site so he's probably got nothing to do with it imo. Cheers

It seems stupidity is not limited to the extremely young and naive. And, hell, if you're gonna rip something off, have the decency to at least TRY to improve it in some way...I could've done a better job tracing with a greasy broom handle or crayons.

Why people even consider ripping a piece like that, let alone trace, is beyond me.

I recognised that in an instant. Looks like he ran a filter over it and just erased the figure and the dragons in the background.

    EDIT
I got a big laff from this comment though -

I've been following the controversy at OMGposters myself... Pretty obvious rip, and I find it odd that such a high-profile guy as Sam would do such an obvious rip from another extremely well known guy. How would this NOT get noticed... still, took a few months before anyone found out.

Too bad all the prints are sold, probably shipped and paid for as well.

Exactly what I was wondering. Looking at his take on Foster's work, I can't say I think I'm missing much.

To be honest I used to like Sam's work. I think he has a nice lyrical sense of line...but apparently he's also got a serious case of the dumbass if he thought he could just rip off Foster like that and people wouldn't notice.
