I really like how much the last few batches of of paintings have won in subtlety. You've traded the machismo in the earlier work for elegance and for me that really pays of.
Those colour pencils were pretty neat too.

Thanks Walnut, I would say its as important to be mannered as being strongly opinionated, the same goes for the paintings. But I also have to say that I am divided between the two styles of painting that we mentioned. I want to paint freely with as much a bravura/bravado attitude, but I also want to have the right about of subtlety in there. So I am still trying to find that middle ground.

    Thanks..

    This stuff is brilliant.
I like the one with the landscape in the previous page. It was the perfect landscape for this reality that you portrait. A pitty that you didn´t give it more tries to that idea (also, I thought at first that the guy was jumping the rope).
I love both the box series and the headless series. Perhaps a little more the box series.
It´s great to see how liberated you are.
I don´t like much the bg for this one, but I do like the idea of putting this figures also in a normal world.

So for the last two days, I was in this wierd slump, I wasnt able to realise forms in contours. Normally I am able to see the line of a form on the blank page and I draw over it. But it was just poof, gone. So I struggled, I drew a bit, all shitty drawings. And I started painted too, all of it shit, but after quite a bit of useless struggle I sort of came up with this piece.

    I hope it doesnt suck.

Oh you know how you have the lovely butterfly feeling in your stomach when one of your heroes says"Holy shit man" , I just had that feeling, cuz one of my heroes just said "holy shit man".
    Thanks a lot Ben.
    ---------------------------------------
I scanned the painting apparently the grain of the canvas is reflecting the light in a wierd way, hence the not so black background, where infact it is as dark as the ivory black in my tube. Anyways.
    Any help on photographing it???

toomuchcofeeman- Yes The comic is based in New Delhi, India. The kid is begging actually, but there is a passive suggestion that he might steal, because thats how a lot of these street urchins work. Thanks for looking into the pages man.

I would say this one works well! the closer tones and desaturated colours are a bit more harmonious in my opinion.

be careful not to put too much contrast with the background shapes- sometimes it might distract too much from the figure.

Hi, like the power of your works. Have you made some paintings attempts in black and white or two colors? I noticed that the simplicity of your work is amazing in sketches and digital, in which you use less colors.
    Go on with it!

some really interesting distortions and figures here, this one in particular is really well executed http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/...c1feb3_b_d.jpg
but its starting to veer towards masturbation . simplified hands , simplified feet, no heads , no backgrounds making it feel directionless

Houn - Thanks for the words man. I am still learning color, so I want to work on it. But I will keep painting in B/w because its just such an awesome challenge

Sipher- Thanks for the critique. But you see, I can paint hands and feet, and its not about hands and feet. Its about the anonimity of the figure, but still the context seems personal. I am not concerned with the regular composition. And I dont want to resort to it. Maybe its a success maybe its not. But I shall keep working at it regardless of anything.

    Vritra- Thanks man

    --------------
    So heres Torso in process
    ---------------

Very early in the process, just figuring out the basic design

starting to render a little, block in shapes a little. Still somewhat shaky

just some more rendering, but I am not liking how the formsare shaping out though

Finally getting close to what i want, but still the fluency is missing, oh and trying to fuck around with the background

So,as you can see I have a habit doing something drastic at the last moment, its just happens, sometimes it ends up sucking but when it works it looks great. Right now I am not sure which one this is, I might know tomorrow morning I guess.

    Thanks alot Drbibin,
I guess we are both exploring same dimensions in art, in different ways ofcourse, Andy Wyeth in my opinion was one of the best painters as well, he makes realism look like complete abstract and makes the abstract shapes talk so well. I had just posted his image in a "Post your Favourite Painting" in the Art discussion forum. I want to be able to express that as well, lack of narratives in obvious or linear sense, still exploring the ordinary and making it so wonderous.
Thanks for seeing beyond the obvious here. Take care and Please come again.
