I like this propeller design. Making them apart of the creatures anatomy got too complicated.

feedback is generaly reciprocated. give a bit of critique to others and you get it back

preferred the propellers where they were.. were a lot more dynamic and interesting to the composition to have them diagonally. i dont think the problem was the positioning, more how you did them

    http://www.aerospace-technology.com/...mages/img5.jpg

just draw some normal propellers, use a circular selection tool in photoshop and apply motion blur or something to give that effect. much more convincing. i think you could have challenged yourself more with the colour as well, the whole thing is basicaly purple with a bit of orange which works well, but varying the hue a bit, throwing in some blues, reds, greens, would really set it off, especially as far as the creatures concerened, would make it a lot more interesting. i dont think a creature exists in nature that is just one uniform hue throughout without subtle variations especially at that distance. try making the skin darker around parts which receive physical contact to show the skin is thicker and give it more of a texture

i just checked out your rprevious versions on the other page. the first painted one looked better in terms of contrast, the value of the purple was a lot darker so the creature popped out of the background whereas here it does it all looks static. the previous design of the propelers looked better as welll, with the rings round them

also if you wana make something look dynamic especially if its flying, tilting the creature a bit or even tilting the whole image a little really works it

Thanks sleep for all the feedback. I made it pop more from the background and edited the color balance so it's not so uniform. I also took your advice and tilted the creature a little, I like it better now thanks.

I bought a little moleskin sketchbook the other day and I've been carrying it with me everywhere and doodling whatever comes to mind. Here are a couple pages, more to come soon.

You're doing okay here! For that last piece, i think it's too static, the pose is the main problem i guess, along with angles. But i have to wait and see tonight's progress first, before saying more, i don't want to intrude your workflow. I'll be back when it's updating

Thanks for the comment, I did some more work on it. I think it still needs a little more work but I'm too tired now. I'll go back at it tomorrow with fresh eyes. Also here are some sketchbook randomness.

Your sketchbook randomness is fun to watch!

About the painting piece, i think you could direct the back guy's eye toward what the front guy is aiming for, it can add the drama feel of the piece and make it more solid. People tend to follow what eyes are looking at, while in your piece there's only two pair of eyes, having them in different direction can lose the focus in your image. .

Loving those moleskine sketches!!! I would say that the digitally painted characters you have look a little bit stiff, you might want to work on loosening up your painting and focusing on gestures/lines of action. Or maybe there's something about your transition from drawing to painting that's stiffening up the finished product. Either way it'll work itself out with time. Looking forward to seeing more!!!
