Whoa... you're doing a lot of work. Good precision pencilwork. Your proportions and accuracy seem to be getting better.

I did my self portrait. I rarely ever draw myself and I'm actually happy how this speed painting came out. I really like how the charcoal brush in PS works. I think it gives a more painterly look.

Nice work. I like the personality in the SPs. And the pencils look good.

Some inaccuracies around the eyes (perspective wise) but good at any rate.

Sure thingy. By the big picture I mean how the image is "designed" so to speak. For instance, in the case of characters, the "design is the pose, apparel etc. Also of course there's the other basic but nonetheless important things like light, color, form etc. That's the important stuff.
Having all the surfaces completely rendered in a poor "base" won't make the image better.
So I'd suggest you start trying to make a good base, and only that, and not worrying about having visible brush strokes. Look at Craig Mullins' work for instance, most of them have those "visceral" brushstrokes visible, but they look damn good, because he is worryied about the big picture, the base.

Its hard to talk about these things, but I hope that helps

Also, keep up the figure practices, just try to not be so stiff on some lines, like for instance those outlines you have going, which look too "mechanic" and are actually unnecessary

Hey thanks for the comments and the feedback! Here is a crappy speed painting I did real quick. I wanted to do more but my computer is being slow as hell so I gave up. I have a ton of figure sketches and master copies to post once I get them scanned!

your pencils look really nice and 3D, but your colors and lighting need some work! do photo studies, still lifes of metallic objects in order to understand all this stuff keep goin!

    Wasp

Faced with the idea of spirituality, I find the best medium for me to express my ideas and views of this extensive topic is through art. So for the last few hours I've been painting this quick little painting. It basically represents my realization that I and all humans have a longing for some kind of spiritual connection and we are constantly looking for that answer. Something to give our lives meaning and a realization that we are here for a reason. This was the feeling I had behind this painting as I was painting it.
Feel free to leave a comment or critique on the painting. What do you think it represents? Do you think I conveyed the message I was aiming for? Does it mean something different to you? Please post a whatever you want ~

Wild colors in this latest one.
Also am digging the futuristic knight you've got going, as well as the studies.

Someone from one of my life drawing sessions said something similar to this... the spiritual connection thing. He said that some of us (as artists) search too much for that perfect line, or that perfect value, or whatever... and he likened that to some sort of inner search for meaning.

I told him I thought he was weird but it's thought provoking.
