Girls! hyenas! fantasy art! (partial nudity)

Hey, i think this is my first post here. This is actually my first serious attempt to paint a complete illustration or concept, i usually just do little studies and practice. I'm wanting to do a fun, dumb, cliche fantasy illustration to get my feet wet, taking some inspiration from frazetta's kind of work.

Serious critiques on pretty much everything very much appreciated! Tenatively planning to add color to this once i get the dogs polished up a bit.

thats some pretty sweet shit u got there, love the loose brushtrokes in there.
some things i noticed;

her breast are to far up and not effected by gravity enough, since shes nekkid there no bra holding them up. hips to wide and the legs seems kinda in another perspective then the body, a little short and out of balance. this will totally be an awezome piece, hope i was at any help.

Try using references for the hyenas too. But I guess this would be your next step anyway ^^;

There's something very 19th Century about her body -- the wide hips and small, high breasts. It ain't Frazetta-ish, but it's neat. Don't correct it too much!

If you finish the whole thing to the same degree as the bits you've already finished, this'll be a very nice piece.

I agree completely with lotet's feedback (perspective etc).

To add: I feel your loose brushstrokes gives the picture a nice dynamic, I feel this is a bit lost in the precise way you fill in her face and body. Her foot seems to float, but I guess this will be corrected when you amend the perspective-aspect of her body. Nice composition, though. I'd say you're doing a fine job!

Figure has a nice feel to it. Just get some serious reference for those hyenas. They look way too... cute.

This is a nice piece. Lots of action in the brush strokes. The hips don't bother me. I like the feel of the width. It gives her substance and grounds her a little in reality. Especially if you like Frazetta's work. I have to agree with what was said about the breasts. They're just too perky and perfectly shaped. I'd like to see some more range in the shape. I think one part of the problem that might help the breast area indirectly is the backside shape of the ribcage and the position of the shoulders don't seem to line up correctly. I think the right shoulder (our right looking at her) is a little too round, and could come a little more to the right. Also, the anatomy of that right arm feels kind of rubbery.

I think the hyena's are definitely the weakest area right now. Definitely grab some reference and work on the musculature there. They're not up to the quality of the human figure. Oh, and one last thing. Can't really tell what she's holding. Is it a rope? Chain? I'm sure you'll address these parts as you refine, but I wanted to point things out as they stand now. Great job. Good luck with it.

The boobs look perfectly normal for a breast that size.

It's not the one on the right that bothers me so much as the one on the left. Maybe on the top slope if you made it concave instead of convex you'd be in good shape. Man's pecs go out like that because of the muscle structure underneath. I'm thinking a woman's wouldn't so much. Or, you could have two convex curves. A gentle one on the top going near to straight down, and then a second going out to the nipple. Check Frazettas wok on this maybe. If you have his book called "Rough Work" (which is an awesome book), it would be a great reference.

She's got perky boobs guys!

I agree with most of the comments said, but something about the hyena blocking her legs is really breaking up the composition to me. There is this great direction going from the hyena in the foreground, making the focus on her, and the hyena behind her has the same effect. but the hyena in front of her legs just seems to fall off the piece. maybe move him off to the side of (her) right leg, with his head wrapping around blocking her leg just a slight bit so he's not totally hidden in the composition.
I don't know, just things to think about, and I may just be going crazy so feel free to ignore this.
