Pens, Paper, Pencils, Sweat and Tears.

I want to be a character designer and comic illustrator, mostly painting covers and layouts. Or doing my own thing eventually. lol

Very nice work. Where do you go to school?

Quick question, what kind of Comics are you interested in? You're the first person I've met who doesn't like Super Heroes . Do you like Fantagraphics?
When it came to my art, I went my own way and did not follow the trends.-Frank Frazetta

Strassenpenner08: Thanks. I will try my best to do so.

    vanbythevaseline:
Oh I haven't started college yet, September is going to be my first year . Yea I don't dig super hero comics, I like Spiderman, Wolverine, Batman but that as far as it goes. I tend to read indie comics more often, even though the graphic novel 'Fables' has been catching my attention. Never heard of fantagraphics, what is that? ;D

Damn. I think I said 50 hands and faces, when I meant 25 hands 25 faces, who cares anyways lol. The faces were fun to do, I did little small ones, cause I ran out of 8x11 paper from the 30 Sec drawing thing. This was intense ran out of hand poses and faces to draw. Can you recognize any faces? (No one can, cause it's so bad) so I'll list them. *I should note that I used refs for some of the faces, especially the ones with smiles.

1 - Crap from my head
2- Angelina (Looks nothing like her)
    3- Kerri Hilson (fail)
4-Kerri Hilson (fail, I have problems with drawing smiles or expressive mouths)
    5- Kerri Hilson again
    6- Beyonce
    7 - Jessica Alba (fail)
    8- Jessica Alba
    9- Tila Tequila
    10- Nicki Miraj
11- Lucy Liu (This one was really bad)
    12- Master Chief!
    13- MJ (Black version)
    14- MJ (White version)
    15- Bruce Lee
16&17 - Two failed tries at Jackie Chan
18-25 - Crap from my head

My heads look to simplistic, I need to do more studies, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of hands. Anyone know a good book for faces? and perspective too? My goal for tomorrow is to do a speed paint or something close to finished work.

Hey mate , massive improvement!! studies like that are going to make you improve tenfolds when your doing gestures although its great to be loose you still try and concentrate and think hard about placement and of course how the gesture flows some of the best advice i have and it applies to everything is

Start - quick Loose Light Finish - Slow tight darker detailed

and always think about about contrast.

good work and keep it up =).

aussiedeza: Thanks, Gotta work hard man. I will try your tips on gestures.

So my mac, gave me some stupid error and now I cant even get to my files, make things worse, I had to reformat it to get it to work again. The speed paints I did are gone. (nooo) At least I got the practice in

I did some character designs and Thumbnails for a comic I'm going to make for practice . I will post some of it today and some tommrow, to much to show at once.

If anyone is intrested in the story of the comic (doubt any one is haha). The world has become so bad, that the only way to survive is to steal or kill. People lost all hope after putting their trust into petty heros (Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Naruto?) but none of them come to they're rescue. A young man who has the power to change the world, and be a hero doesn't want to save anyone, until he sees what it feels like to suffer so bad. ;O

Pretty boring right? haha. Back to drawing.

*The first page is from the subway and the other two are quick sketches of my friend and her sister eating food.

If artwork could kill, this would wipe out the human race. Dx 2nd speed paint, looks so horrible. The drawing part was so easy, but the painting part was hard. Never learnt how to paint in any of my high school art classes, well we never learnt anything. skin tones, planes of the faces... Color Theory? I don't know any of that. =_= Time to go read up on those. Any critiques would be helpful (Please bash it as hard as you can) and if anyone knows any useful books I could use to help me with painting. (I've only painted with oils, acrylic and watercolors a couple of times...but my funds aren't that high so digital is all I got. lol)

Quick update. Some stuff here are from loomis and I started studying comic pages, compisitions, shading, detail and the works. The one attached is a copy of Alvin Lee's peice he did for UDON for Rival Schools. (He's one of my favorite artists....and i included the main character for my comic i'm doing for practice. (yes, his hands are huge).

Some quick gestures on 30 & 60 seconds. Tried doing some with a brush, but they don't look to great lol. I need to practice the head more and feet. Lol I got lazy and didn't want to upload them one by one so I just put it into one file in photoshop.

aussiedeza Yeah I'm really trying to stick this anatomy thing down. :p Bring out the loomis. I think I had bridgeman in there too, I get those two confused sometimes lool.

jackpot_anjr90 Thanks Good luck in the fall. DMC rules, I'm halfway through the fourth game

Oh boy haven't been here in a while (I haven't stopped drawing though ) I got some new studies and little speed paints I did but I've noticed I haven't posted any personal art.

So here are two sketches I did today, based of Little Red Riding hood I also did a pencil page, but I upload that late (11x17 cant fit into my scanner lool). Oh this character is supposed to be the opposite of the original, she's a thug who weilds a katana and carrys a bunch of knives who is always picking a fight.

Keep up the great work, your studies are looking tight! You should try some imaginative poses or characters to test out what you've learned...helps to keep track of what you're retaining from your studies
Yeah I love DMC4, but DMC3 is my favorite Keep it up man!

Nice sketchbook, keep it up! Make sure to do some LONG studies too. They say a Bargue should take about a hundred hours to do properly. You will benefit greatly from intense studies such as that, and it will make your quick stuff that much better.

Work in progress, still have a long way to go though. I like how it's going so far except for the brush im using, it leaves trails of circles. Critiques are welcomed.

I really liked your life drawings and studies. FYI, on the last piece you can try adjusting the spacing of your brush in PS to eliminate the circle effect.

Thanks, I tried the brush thing and it's working better now.

Some bridgeman and loomis studies and some personal stuff I was trying to develop a looser technique, for my personal work. Some of these are based of old sketchbook drawings from last year when I started drawing, I just decided to see how better I've gotten. ;_; College starts monday Dx

Haven't been here in a while, just finished 1st semester at mtm. Here is some stuff I have scanned, not alot but it's new. I'll upload some artwork, whenever I get the chance to scan them.

Just some quick observations on the bus and at the subway station and some brush work.
