    Howdy!

I think your designs are too cluttered with detail. There are no places for our eyes to rest, and since everything is equally important, as a consequence, nothing is important. Sacrifice local detail to enhance the overall expression. I think your images would benefit from you choosing places of interst more carefully. And since you dont need to render everything out, you can be more productive =)

Furthermore, I think you should draw more verbs and adverbs and less subjects. Give your poses meaning.

Finally I think you´d experience a faster development if you´d vary your subject matters more.

    Take care!

kaktuzlime: your critique is right on the point, every point~ Thank you. Yes, my work has too much detail, and no focus point. I should do more movement and pay attention to mood. and yes, I need to draw something other than pretty people~LOL

Thank you. I'll work on those issues.

Now...I should work on the Team Chow II character... or I should working on the stuff on my important portfolio to-do list....Or... I should working on the art I promised my friend.....

But...in stead, I did this....Skin done, hair and armor tomorrow.

Great job so far. Very sensual. Maybe the septum (nose) is a bit crooked in perspective?

AH.....EH......the finished piece~I like her~ she's kind of different from the stuff I did before. I look at this guy's work (http://drigzabrot.deviantart.com/), and I thought, hey, I want to do something like that....so I did~~~

OK, now I really...seriously need to go back working on my team chow character!...

This is what I get finished today. I guess if I push it, I can finish the right arm and the fan... But I know when I get tired and frustrated, I cut corners. So better leave it till tomorrow. Somewhere alone the way, I got caught up with little details again! I actually have to fight myself not to add more accessories... I think I'll add an ear ring, something around her belt, or maybe wrist...

I don't know how could it come so easy for other people, at least it seems effortless, and the end result is just shinny and fabulous. I worked my a$$ off, not even half as good... Maybe if I draw more, it'll be effortless for me as well.

Team Chow II - The good side

Name: 绯 媚 Fei Mei (meaning: the Red Charm)

    Race: Elf

    Class: Thief

    Alignment: Chaotic Good

Personal History: I'm working on it~ the original plan is that she was sold to slavery when she's a girl. Her master owned a bar of sort, and because Fei Mei is pretty, she was forced to learn dancing to entertain her costumer. She later ran away from her Master, eventually joined another traveling bards group. I think her personality would be playful, flirty, can be wicked at time, and have a problem with the authority, but has a genuinely good heart. Due to her past, she's specially against slavery and always go out of her to help women and children run away from slavery.

It's almost the final piece. I'm not sure what kind of frame we're going to use for the team, so just black frame for now.

    WIP for the Evil side.

I have been thinking about her description:

Name: 苍 媚 Cang Mei (The Blue Charm)

    Race: Elf

    Age: 65

    Class: Thief

    Alignment: Neutral Evil

Personal History: Cang Mei is an Elven thief. Her village was raided by slavers when she's a little girl, and she was sold to a Bar owner. Because of her beauty, she was forced to learn dancing to entertain her costumers.

After years of abuse, Cang Mei finally managed to kill her Master. Wounded during the killing, she ran to her own people for help. But because of the slave mark on her right shoulder (which she covered up all time with shoulder plate or at least a piece of fabric), her own people won't have her back. To survive, she became a mercenary, kill for money. Eventually she joined a Merc group, they disguised as a traveling band, put up performance from time to time to avoid attention; accepting contract killing job in the back. Cang Mei was gathering information to find out who raided her village (sounds like a nice character side quest~), so she can kill every single one of them.

Cang Mei is cruel. She doesn't believe in good and evil, she only believe in money. She is seductive, love to play catch and release. She's very smart, like all elves, but because she lack of proper education and training, she can only use minimum necromancy magic.

    Excellent job.

I think the left knee and thigh area of Cang Mei could be rendered a little bit better... but both women look very good.

p sage: knee, elbow and nose are my problem areas. I spend a lot of time on it, still couldn't get them to look right...

J.roxanne: haha, nice to have a fellow Chinese here. The names are supposed to have colors in it, so "绯媚“ would be "red";”苍媚“ would be "blue". But I guess "梅” works as well. They're all cheesy fantasy game names anyway...LOL

Thank you guys!!! I'm not happy with my team chow character, I feel that they're lifeless and look really rigid. So i post a thread at critique center asking for help. Please check it out any critique and comments will be much appreciated.

A redesign of a friend's character~ WIP. Because I've been getting constant criticism about too much detail, I decided to work from a different angle this time. block in the bigger picture as much as I can at first, don't zoom in too much and keep it simple and straight forward.

To be honest, this is pretty challenging. And the picture scares me, I have to push myself to keep it loose. But I guess that's the point, always pushing yourself, step outside the comfort zone.
