Great work on your character designs, I like the lively but not too over saturated colours.
I vote for that 2nd design for the magician. It's way better! It has more mystic aura than the first one. I actually questioned the purpose of the three daggers on his chest belt in the first design. It's not entirely damaging the logic of the character, like turning him into a thief like you were afraid of, for example, so i didn't really know what to say and kept my mouth shut. But now i'm glad you removed them. As for the feathers, i didn't object them at first as i thought it would be cool and i like the idea how the feathers will comply him in the action moves, but now i see that he's looking better without them. I guess my eyes is not highly-trained yet. So it's again good decision, i say. Oh and, keep the color full but simpler. Keep going. I know it will turned-out better than the first idea.

colored version of my Magician. I think I'm about done with his design. I need to hurry up with the Queen of Cups.
Very cool stuff!
I really like the mix of asian and european influences in your work, as well as the mix of futuristic and past. The combo creates a very unique fantasy/scifi setting!
Inspiring stuff, keep up the good work!
Queen of Cup, first try.
Well, A lot of things are not working here. first, the costume is way.....way too modern. She's a hip hop inspired queen, not a hip hop queen... I need to redesign her clothing. Second, Queen of Cup is more like a wise, older, sometimes sexual, and motherly woman, I'm not sure if this one quite go with the card. I like the movement though, movement is not really my thing, so I try to push it here.
Anyway, I'll sleep on it, and come back tomorrow.
Queen of Cup, second try
Queen of Cups, two update. This will be the final design, I need to move on to the final rendering to meet the deadline.

I'm back from hibernation. Magician~
Loving this sketchbook! Great ideas and good improvement!
Keep on killing
That is it. I am subscribing to this thread because your work is amazing. I love your lines and drapery. I am sorry, but I can't really say anything else because you are on a level so very far from my own (and I am not really knowledgeable myself). No pressure or anything, but I am rooting for you to reach your full potential and more!
Yes BABY! I love comin back around here, Fluorine! Lookin great as always!
Come ooonn!! wooo--hooo!!
Was wondering where you were... just thought about you the other day. Good to see you around.
Cool piece. If it wasn't so bright in this room right now, it would be easier to see what you did with the colors... which are probably really good.
Take care with the pants folds... the creases should radiate from common points (the edge of the knees, mostly).

Wonderful post, terrific concepts, and very good sketches!
Thanks again for all the critiques and encouragement. I followed the advices and make some changes to my magician, change the legs perspective problem, change the fabric fold, enlarge the right hand, and change the face, make adjustments on skin color... that's about sums it up.
What do you think of this new version? better? worse? need more work?

Sunset Colored Eyes
I have been wanting to do this ever since I play Mass Effect II. This is my interpretation of Thane Krios' wife. Thane talk about her constantly, but we never get to see her. So I decided to paint her myself, the drell with sunset colored eyes.
Wow you art is AMAZING! what program do you use? and by chance are you a Yoshitaka Amano fan and do you like the Final Fantasy series???

Here's the second try. I try to give her vivid color, because Thane described her as a "vivid person". skin tone is good for now, but I don't like the yellow clothing. I don't like yellow, but I just can't picture her in pink, and I've done way to many red, that leave me with blue, same with her skin tone, and green, which would make her look like a frog.
Oh well....let me sleep on it.
LOL, thank you for liking my art. After being trashed by almost every "professional" I've met, it's nice to hear people actually enjoy my works.
I'm not so much a JRPG type of girl, I'm more a AD&D dungeon crawler kind. But I like Final Fantasy series, I'm actually playing FFXIII right now. Have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the story telling so far, and characters really start to get on my nerves.
I guess I'd rather shoot some locusts or nazi zombie instead.
Went to life drawing group tonight~ here're the works.
This one has evolved greatly. I like it. I also like his calm face, though it's a bit feminine for me.
Your latest sketches are really good too, I like especially the last one (with highlight).
... and nevermind those "pros" that been trashed you. Don't they get the pain of doing art?![]()
You're doing great, i say. Keep up the good work!

Sunset Color Eyes, Irikha, beloved wife of Thane Krios, the Drell Assassin that joined Shepard in her quest of saving the universe from the reapers in Mass Effect II.
Thane, how I love him so~ The best "romancable" character ever created for a RPG. Finally, finally... we have someone who is not whinny or funny or just lame. I love the way when he nod at me as a true gentleman (seriously, I haven't seen that kind of nod other than in a Shakespeare play); I love his voice, how he talks, serious and sweet at the same time; I love the way how he drifted away in his memory about his old life, and his wife, the drell with sunset color eyes.
At that moment, I thought I will paint her, the woman Thane fell in love with, I thought she'd be fierce, proud, and courageous. Thane described her as a "vivid person", so I think I'll give her vivid color. Thane's skin is green, but his son (we met during Thane's loyalty quest) is blue. So I thought he might get that from her mother. For her clothing, I want to keep with the Mass Effect style, but give her some element from Thane's clothing.
And of course, the sunset color eyes. What is sunset color really... red? orange? purple?
Anyway, here she is, sunset color eyes.
I'm back from my hiatus.
Well, technically I'm not back to my "painting career", if I ever had one. I found an industry job back in April, move to San Francisco, have been working 12 hour average most days since then. So you can imagine, I really don't have much left in me to paint. Now, I guess I'll never be back to be a painter. I'm an amateur art lover, and that's probably about it.
I did 2 paintings since April, I'm pretty happy with both. I hope I'll have time to do more.
I have to say, maybe I'm not meant to be an professional artist after all. I feel free now that I don't need to worry about making every piece a portfolio piece, or try to practice/learn something with every painting I make... I'm actually really happy. I like to draw people, portraits, pretty girls with crazy headpiece, now I can paint that without worrying my painting subjects are too narrow.
Maybe it's just me being lazy, I don't care about improvement. I care about painting the stuff I want to paint, and be happy.
The blue haired girl I painted after work.

That newer Magician has great movement! And your latest two paintings have really nice tones, but Sherlock's finger seems a bit off. The blue-haired girl is gorgeous, I love how the eyes look, I always have trouble keeping eyes from getting washed out or being too dark on the face.
LadyLooLauren, thanks
Here's Watson~ Sherlock won't be complete without Watson.
I also did Moriarty and Mycroft.
Same idea, based on BBC Sherlock cast in original Victorian Clothing.
