I think you should post it up for us to see Syrupjuic.
Its not as bad as you seem to think. I think its quite interesting, don't be shy about posting it for all to see.

Maybe it should have been in a NSFW link?

lkjhgfdsa I see... a Pre-Columbian jade ogre. Not quite sure you hit the alien mark, or the blue grey for that matter. Minor issues.

What I'd like to see is more of the warm colors in the statue. Not so much that it loses contrast, but enough to make a more unified image.

I think the atmospheric perspective is reversed. Under normal conditions colors desaturate and turn blue the further they are. Details are also lost in the distance.
In your painting, there's a big blue mass in the front, slowly turning pink and gaining defenition as it reaches the tower.

On second hand, the theory that when focusing on a distant object closer objects will become blurred is a sound one. I still think there's a problem with your execution.

Maybe it's the trees that all look the same size, that's making things flat, or the colors which are similar in chroma.

Thanks for the time put into the response Hamsta.
But yeah, there is a lot id do different if I did it over or went longer with it. I had an idea in my head, and it kind of got lost on the way. And the perspective is BAD. All in all I should have stopped long ago on it, I over worked it far to much I feel.

    @ Kwonster:

I use photoshop (pc) and an intuos3 tablet
And to answer your second question I just have a photobucket account that I link into the thread.
    Hope that helps a little ^^;

Ah, I am glad your omnipotent perspective has allowed you to know what it is exactly that an alien should- nay- does look like... astute...
which blue and which grey do you refer to? the blue I used or the grey I used?
tonal value is something you are having difficuilty with, yes?

The word ‘anarchy’ comes from the ancient Greek αναρχία in which αν meant ‘without’ and αρχία meant first a military ‘leader’ and then ‘ruler’. Anarchist society is one ‘without rulers’: a classless, non-hierarchical society.

    You feeling ok, sir?

I never claimed to know what an alien looks like, but I can tell that the likelihood of it looking like a human is slim.
In regards to your statue's color. I see a green.

then perhaps it is a monitor adjustment issue (?), though I swear there are no reports of ogre's living on this planet, only in myths and Faerunish type places. lol

Mitze - thats a really unique take on it! very nice!

    So many awesome entries!

Anyway, my humble contribution. I really gotta work on perspective and how to convey size and such.

Awh! don't get me wrong; I love constructive criticism. The problem with text is the difficuilty to infer tone and emotive. I like Hamsta and his style, they just sounded a little blunt is all... and aren't I allowed to disagree?
I dig Hamsta's picture- and the ideal of a giant-menstruating-woman-god-statue!
