Once interrupted a discussion about tattoos while everyone was listing their dream tattoo..."I always wanted to get a tattoo of an upside down fish!" Should have seen their puzzled look in their eyes as they tried to imagine what an upside down fish would look like! Since I am a figure drawing artist I guess I need to set-up a figure drawing session with fish. Hmmn..Aquarium here I come. lol Hope at least to get some gesturals maybe a 20 minute if I'm lucky and the fish are moving slow.
With my portfolio I hope to make the viewer look at the form differently. Things don't have to be drawn realistically or even fit inside normal guidelines of drawing the figure. With some of my drawings I try to achieve a re-invention of the study of the figure using a technique of crumbling hard pastels into tiny pieces on the paper. I use only Rembrandt's sorry Sennelier your stuff is always to soft. Then using my palm, fingers, and tennis shoes to deliberately manipulate the pastel crumbs while drawing from a live model. In some drawings you can see a constellation like representation of the human form.
