Dear J Manley and MB crew

    Hey there Jason,

This is a letter of thanks and appreciation to everybody at conceptart.org and massive black, recently I landed a job as a film concept pitch artist for a UK studio, Its essentially my dream job having made the transition from consol games. I know i owe it all to a site i stumbled on while i was unemployed and feeling useless back in February 2003 (almost seven years ago Jesus).

I've attended a couple of workshops (Seattle and newzealand). In Seattle I had a great experience when i put my hand up to draw when there was a spare spot in the Instructor Thunderdome. That had a major part in the direction of my career and life, which i decided to change substantially after returning home to Queensland Australia.

Things are getting insane now with work and art, i don't know how much time i can devote to haunting the forums so I just wanted to say thanks.

I met Alex(alti) though CA, we were chatting on irc and met up to do some drawing on the weekends... We hit it off well and now we are the most obnoxiously happy couple ever. I also owe my entire art progress to CA and all the awesome people around here - 5 years of my sketchbook shows how much CA has helped!

After dealing with illness for many years, CA gave me something to work at, and a group of great people to keep me going. I'd have to say finding CA is one of the best things ever to happen in my life.

Anyway, here is a photo of Alex and I at the NZ workshop. Thanks CA!

We've got personal and professional good stuff going on. I'd say that calls for a big "YAY!"

Congratulations, alti. Good luck and prosperity in your new job and hopefully many happy and productive future ones.

    Wow! This is so unb...

Hold on a sec'...be right back.

Okay. I had to check that I was still on CA. I thought for a minute I got sucked into one of those Disney Cartoon alternate universes where the handsome prince conquers his fears and defeats all the evil charging at him, wins the hand of the beautiful and intelligent princess and they live happily ever after with matching Wacoms...

Im in the same boat as Alti, i landed my concept art job a few years ago and owe it to you guys.

Conceptart.org helped me in many ways. From the quality i should be aiming for in my drawings, to the right sources practice, inspiration, process, reference, etc. Also without my sketchbook to keep me motivated to keep learning, and the finally finished area showing me the upper reaches of artistic talent in the world, i doubt i'd have my job today.

The job is everything i thought it would be. I've been employed about 2 going on 3 years and i am as passionate as ever. But yea, thanks for the site Jason and the crew @ massive black. I wouldn't be doin what i love had it not been for this site. It's nice to have a job i wake up and look forward to going to, and i wouldn't have it if it wasn't for you guys. Cheers'

    Congrats alti!

I've been here for years as well, and even though I'm not working in the industry (not sure I'm cut for it, actually), this place and the works of the people assosciated with it has been keeping me (almost) sane in times when needed. So thank you for that as well, hehe.

    Thumbs up

Now this seriously made my day. After hearing MJ died right before going on his comeback tour I was like "Fuuucccckkk, how can I not be depressed from this? How can I be happy from now on knowing that an artist died right before going on his comback tour?" As if that wasn't enough, I've been losing faith in myself as an artist this past week or two and wonder if this is worth the pain and redrawing.

This thread kind of lit a fire under my ass. Thanks.
