DSG 1488: Fantasy • THE DRAGON SCULPTOR BRINGS THEM TO LIFE AFTER MODELING THEM

    .

[ As reads the (admittedly clunky) header blurb. ]

[ ...Now, this one is really pretty open-ended, and could just as easily be: some prototypical fantasy wizard, a futuristic creator, a child with special powers, etc... ]

i'm a new member from conceptart.org, this is the first time i drew something in 2 months. But i need to start exersicing again so i thought this daily sketcht groop-thing might be a great way to do that. my sketch shows an old asian man who's dragon creation failed, so now he's "learning it how to fly", but actually getting rid of it with fireworks.

Here's my take. About an hour in Photoshop, this one took a lot of pre-planning for some reason. Also, had fun with the welding sparks, they are GREATLY exaggerated. =P
Not too proud of the shading/lighting, it's something I really need to work on. =/

Hello, I'm incredibly new to drawing (just started a few weeks ago) and I thought I would give this daily sketching a try. This is probably one of the first pictures I've made off the top of my head. I just created a wizard casting a spell to release the stone sculpture of a dragon he had made.

Haha! First try at this. Took a while. I am no good at this 'fast' business.

Been too, too long... but "dragon" is the magic word. Thought I'd take a swipe at this one. Not the most original interpretation, I know...

Neat topic. It reminded me of Robin Hobb's Farseer books

    I got it wrong, didn't I?
I thought you meant a dragon who sculpts.

DAAAAAAMN, for some reason i read, "Dragon sculpts and brings them to life after moulding them."

Well the dragon wanted a friend and is attempting to create one from the soft earth but it's very meticulous. Afterwards it may try to cast magic at it blah blah blah till it lives.

    Viking ship

A mystical wooden dragon ship (in-crusted with the plundered jewels of the crowns of kings from far off lands). The ruthless viking warriors believed she was able to majestically spring to life, protecting the crew if it were to be accidentally sailed off the face of the flat earth.

(I just made that up BTW, I don't think vikings really believed that.)

Ok, not a sculptor but I thought the concept was cool and original. Suggestions would be cool.
(Also, if one could indicate me a good tutorial for rendering, I prefer drawing with pencil and paper because I'm not really good at rendering on computer)

Here's the closeup, I've put a link to the whole picture below
