You're doing very very well. School and life can take it out of the best of us. That body cast painting is particularly well done, and although the lighthouse one is a bit flat, I thoroughly enjoy the style.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had my exams, nailed them, and now i am happily waiting for my driver license. Can't wait to drive around

So for today i tried applying what i learned on the previous wips i did.
For the mannequin parts i used this as a reference.

    Thumbs up

Hey, just wanted to drop by and say thanks for all the nice comments in my sketchbook.
I really like that you are doing so many studies both digitally and traditionally and it has definitely helped, the progress from first page is very obvious. I would suggest slowing a bit down now and doing some longer studies from observation, something like a small still life or some cloth study. When you spend many hours working on a single life drawing you start to notice and learn things that you would miss doing a quick sketch, plus they really help to improve your perspective and rendering skills.
    Keep up the good work.

Drivers license! So exciting. I remember about a year ago going about 20km an hour and freaking that I was going so fast and was going to kill either myself or someone else. I got my lisence somehow so I'm sure you'll manage.

In the first paint of the latest post, our right hand arm would be shaded by her body if I have the lightsources right. You also have to start thinking of her arms and legs as tubes with a shadow side of their own. Now, more, more, more drawing!!!!!!

ooh big congrats on passing! driver's license?! haha i thought u were a lot older cuz u mentioned something about kids a while back, either way glad ur able to be mobile and now able to travel and do some plein air painting hehe!

i like the update and it looks like u used the blender on that first sketch or a brush with low opacity, but things i notice is that one the colors are a bit muddy and two the forms are a bit lost, don't forget to paint back into the blends to get some of that hard edge where u see em, keep going i think the sculpture study is looking great based off the ref!

Emil_ - Thank you, will do!

strings - look who's back!! fine, just fine; not getting any from actually playing tennis right now though

Pixie Trick - ahaha nope, nope, i don't have problems like that; i actually had the opposite:
    everyone has to take care of themselves, so if i speed by, they'll move out of my way lol;
but i somehow managed and now i drive just fine. thanks for the crits pix!

snootchy - kids?! i think you got the wrong sketch book..i don't remember saying anything in my sb
about kids, other that i liked drawing them; i'm 18 right now =)

after i blended the statues, it seems i went over board with the other figures.
i was so excited of my new brush! i used the smudge one you said. tried something else too,
but i didn't like the outcome so much
thanks for dropping by so often, you're motivating me to draw more so that i can update more!

Mr.Pryminista - thank you! glad to hear that
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Returned from yet another trip. I think it's the last for a while now.
But while i was gone, i realized that if i draw in the morning,
i am more relaxed and i spend more time constructing, witch is great!!

Few stills from life, with not so much construction.. and a few anat studies.

waddup Christine! haha that's so crazy cuz i thought u were a lot older, i think we were discussing something about christmas time and u made a remark of something like 'you obviously don't have kids' or something like that, either way ur killing it and really dig that last anatomy sketch of the muscle groups in the leg, think u've inspired me to get rolling on some more serious studies! also glad to see you experimenting with brushes, i know some comment that should nail down fundamentals and i agree to some degree but also there's needs to be time to just experiment and go buck wild on the canvas so with that being said tear it up and hit us with the goodness!

Hey nice studies, your black and white tonal studies are coming along nicely, when you do anatomy studies try to imagine the part you drew in a different position and try to draw it from imagination while you have the information you just learned in your head.

whisperss - Yes, as much as I can! Thank you Aude

MyioDeSopsia - thank you very much, I will do more loomis

    snootchy - now that you mention it, I remember something like that too;
i took care of a few so perhas that's why i said whatever i said..
Mike is short for Michael, no?..mind me calling you that?

muscle study is after loomis, but I looked in a bunch of other anatomy books while I drew them too.
can't wait to see your anat studies! i think experimenting especially when you're near level-up, is fun
and makes you discover your way of drawing even more; but I need both,
thanks for the support, as always!

Danny_K - Thank you for the suggestion Danny! Definitely going to try that out.
Right now though, I want to remember the bones a bit more, and learn to attach muscles on them.
then, no matter what the pose, I'll know what to do

raminafshari - thank you very much!

alexson - I sure will, thank you Alex!

Pixie Trick - I intend to Pix, thank you

Emil_ - and here they are! thank you for the encouragement.
    you reminded me to do more cast shadow studies too;
but I still have a long way until I can draw them as crisp as you do.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No internet connection, but it turned out to be a good thing.
Spend less time browsing, more time drawing.

And last one was a quick bones-to muscles-to line and shadow figure.
I know it is sooo messed up, but please be gentle!! I'll do better next time, promise!

Looking at you feels like looking at me. So it's probably a crit for myself but I think it can help you too.

What is your overall first goal line? What do you want to reach and to do with your drawings?
You draw a lot and study a lot, that's good! But study alone doesn't improve you a lot. Using it is importand too. To reach your goal. You have a lot of study of humans, but you draw them really less. Maybe trying to get some portraits to a finishing stage from time to time can help you too. So you can use your knowledge.

    Have fun!
    KR3

    Edit:
Haha looking at your comment in my SB, feels like we said the same =).

Klaus Reinbach III - Haha, you may be right! Almost same thing.
Thank you, that is an interesting question! I actually didn't think about that! I have..
    no idea why I am drawing..I just..am
I must think more before I can come up with an answer..
But i know i must find what I want to draw, and do a few more finished drawings of that.
And then do some more studies.

snootchy - That may be, but I don't want to call you something you'd feel uncomfortable with either.
Thank you, I tried blending some more today. It is really fun as of lately, so I am glad
I could improve while at it too! I'm listening to more classical music while drawing.
I think it helps me calm down and take my time.

dhilipsomesh - thank you, I will!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried blending out a bit the cast shadows from the other post.
And while i was going through the Bridgman book,
I suddenly had this eagerness to draw a side view nose.
So a little bit of sketching. Just messing around.

Pretty_Angel - thank you so much pretty! looks like you read my mind.
I was actually going to start a longer drawing, but I still was not sure of the idea..
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trying to work on the composition, but I'm not sure how.
So far i just tried to lay out the idea more or less on canvas.

Will continue tomorrow with a fresh pair of eyes.

your getting better with your values but it looks like your too scared or have some false idea about people.. because your not carrying your values over to your people with the exception of your studies they are all really flat. nice bw face sculpture study though that looks pretty good

sup sup christine rocking it hard, u are one busy little bee and i like the productivity!!

i agree with what kato had to say, in that ur studies are really nice and the free sketch is a couple levels below what u've studied, i think another good exercise would be to like do that ref'd head sketch than like a little bit later do one from memory or ur impression from that last study to kind of reinforce what u studied from the ref.

Ur observational eye is great nonetheless, I think u have a good eye for capturing values and proportions with ref and in time i think that will materialize conceptual, so keep at it playah ur doing fantastic!!

Your digital works gotten amazingly good! Such an improvement!

Great progress on texture, colour and faces Cristina! One problem I can see is with your figures the balance often seems off. Like there leaning to far to one side. Just an observation though

Take care, keep this stuff coming!
