These are basically in the order i drew them.
And i didn't do anything in between either...it's all i got.
I was quite surprised of the results!
But as a consequence, i am afraid of starting new traditional complex pieces.
Instead, i'm stuck on still life objects, eyes, noses etc.

At one point, at the beginning of this year, for 2 months i daily doodled.
It means, that every day, at first for 1-3h i would just draw in photoshop.
Then i shrunk the time down to 30 min, and at one point, to 5 minutes, getting great results!

But i couldn't keep it up so i went on with pencil n paper after precisely 68 daily doodles in photoshop cs2.

Here are just a few i consider my best.
They're in order, so the first are quite bad :p

The pepper and the onionis the point when i was able to do a doodle in 5 minutes. These two i remember well because it amazed me...5 min-7min each.

Crissy, you have some interresting ideas i must say. however there is too much softness in your work, i think that might be the problem of abusing soft brush or not using the ultimate hard round bursh.
I suggest picking up the hard round brush with shape dynamics turned off and other dynamics set, also make sure pen pressure and opacity are at 100% simply control it with your pen, and decrese the hardness for gaining different edges.

About the pencil sketches, they are very good, but i'd suggest trying to simplify some things like those eyelashes , you dont have to paint every single one, just make this area look like it has some of them and make only few of them visible as they are now. Same rule applies for hair.

Thank you very, very much! I lack the confidence of actually having an idea, much less a good one.
About the brushes:I think it is a little bit from both. In some cases when i really want to make it shine, i overuse the soft brush, but i recently changed that, by using much more saturated colours instead. I also use the chalk brush when i paint, set to other dynamics but the opacity n such are set to 70-90. I used the hard round one only on my insects and on the apple...from then on i started mixing the chalk one in, untill i completely lost the hard base brush.
So i just go with a hard brush, set only on other dynamics, with 100% opacity...i'll try my best!

About the eyelashes and details...yeah i soo like to complicate things...and you got me! i tended to do that to hair too...try to draw every thread, from top to bottom gah! Now i know i have to focus more on one point, like the eye dose, after all he can't switch between them at the same time,but i did when i drew it!

Some old hand studies. But these reminded me to do some more.
Some of them are after photos, some after my own hand, and at one point when i got confident (in the second sheet) i made a few from imagination; they have a little star-sign on them..did the joints-sketch first though.

I cleaned the scan ins a bit and added the background colour in photoshop.

These are all the hands i did, from the first try at the top of the first page, to the last at the...second page.

Well hello there Cristina, and thanks for dropping by my thread!

Really cool work so far, Great variety too!

I really like the sky-scape's, fish and bug studies, you seem to have a pretty good idea of colour which is more than I have!

And with those digis, try using a large hard brush to start the pic off. This will give you a more solid base. And I would avoid using the airbrush, and anything too soft.

Dig the hand studies too! Keep those up, the more the better!!!

wow I really love the colors you've used on those paintings, but like the others said use now and then a harder brush, it will come out more realistic

@____@ geeeeezuz, those eyes. And the clocks. haha those are pretty cool. And it's fun to get into digi because there's so much freedom; such improvement over a year!
As far as critique, keep working on hands and such, you can only get better. ;] I think you should try perhaps to make your brushes more opaque and less airbrush because they look a little messy, but that's more of an opinion than anything.

More studies.

These are made after real life objects and a book. I looked in the book and at online photos for the "pose" but i poked the real thing and turned it on all the faces too. Regarding the big seashell..yep, that one too! i have one on my desk..

and the plants on the right...from the garden, but at one point i stopped looking at the ref and went wild

Hello! I thought dA was the only art community out there for a while, too. I was a little intimidated to start off here when I found it, but I've found it's soooooo much better than dA!
I really like the digital paintings you have put up here. My favorite has to be the Hercules beetle. I just love the grain I see in its shell. The eyes you've drawn are also gorgeous.

ohnojenny -Oooh so i'm not the only one thinking that!!? Are you still active on dA though?
And i know for sure that i would have NEVER tried to post anything here if i wouldn't have polished up my skills on dA first. But then again, dA is the one that made me start drawing in the first place!!

But i must say, conceptart has a different feeling..more based on learning, more serious, more respectful, and yet friendly ^^
Plus there are so many projects!!

And that beetle was one of my fave buggers too!! I just love how good that head looks..the reflections on it and of course the grains on the shell...i love all shiny stuff so it's obvious i think

Ok so i finally decided to post some of my posemaniac results >_<
BUT only some, witch i consider my best.
I still can't make myself post anything and everything that i draw here...the sketchbook isn't a trash can after all.

Some are actually made in the 90sec timeframe, but some, like the last floating back flip like pose are made after a printscreen. That one in particular took long!!

Critic would be very much appreciated!!
And i really have a hard time drawing arms...must study their anatomy more, take a closer look at those muscles

Great to see your onto posemaniac's, Do keep these up!

It's good that you've kept these quite simple, with these you really don't want any details. So just really study the form and wight. Some great examples are from bumskee= http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...8&d=1235232018 His works just insane, so studying some of his stuff is not a bad idea either!!
oh and I dig the shells up there too!

So yeah, your doing the right things, just draw as much as you can is all the advice I can give!

P.S, and by "digis" I meant digital paintings.

These are pretty good! I think you should show us the good and the bad, though, buddy. Otherwise, how are we supposed to help you? :3
The only thing I can say is (besides giving us all the sketches you possess) try taking them during the second drills. It's a bigger challenge and will test your endurance and line work!

Thanks!! And I'm starting some bone studies, right now on the pelvis after doing some bones for a worm up ^^ But now that i think about it, i should have started with the skull, no? haha i thought the pelvis and the leg bones are more interesting...the way they get fit in each other.
But do you think i should start otherwise...like, with the skull?
Oooh ooh!! I LOOVE bumskee's style!! I look at his Digital Painting in ps #2 thread daily; no changes in it though. So i think i'll post those little studies here too. But when i went to his sketchbook it said he's having some issues so no sketches!! How did you get that studies sheet?

Hmmmm... have you thought of medical or botanical illustration? I think this is what Puppet what suggesting.

You're off to a great start! CA is a really great resource if you get to know it. The weekly activities are lots of fun and a good way to practice as well. I really don't have anything to say that others haven't said already. Harder, higher opacity brushes, studies, anatomy.... I agree, show all of your work, good and bad.

I think you are making a very quick progress and i agree with what had already been said.
I also think you have a nice feel for colour , so keep up practicing and don't be afraid to be more assertive and inquisitive in your work even if it means more mistakes sometimes

Pixie Trick - Thank you very much for your comment! I NEVER thought about botnical or medical studies-illustrations. Did you have anything in particular in mind? I'm really eager to hear your thought!!
I saw the weekly activities threads and i think i'll do a bit more studying before i participate But still, that doesn't stop me from doodling on the edge of the subject! And i see you agree to the post-all-your-work idea so i'll just do that!

pauscorpi - You are very much welcomed~!! I just LOVE seeing people draw plants and still life related!! But sadly i see more people do portraits these days, or other stuff than still life and objects. But then again i think it's just me not finding any...not looking in the right place!

After browsing a few sketch books the other day, and seeing the sketch book of JailHouseRock2 in particular, yesterday i have come to the conclusion that it's time i do some anatomy studies!~

I borrowed a book from my mother (witch by the way is a doctor) and started drawing! Sadly the book is in russian,and all i can read is the latin name on my own xD. The good part is that the book has lots n lots n lost of pictures, drawings ans x-rays. And I can always ask my mom for help, and she can help me out with proportions n such on my drawings, and she can really tell me how things work!!

So here are the first two sheets!!

I didn't want to mess to much with his pear, so yeah, i know i should have gone hard base from the start, and i would have dawned it differently too..i hope he won't be bothered that i posted it here ^^"

Janaschi has some drop dead gorgeous still life studies: her sb

Here's wiki's page on medical illustration: Medical Illustration Both medical and botanical illustration are basically two sides of the same thing. Generally, the work is to illustrate medical, or scientific texts (all of those anatomy text pics you are copying are medical illustrations). You might illustrate kids science books, or nerve texts for university. Botanical is the same but for plants.

If you want to look at some 'lesson' like threads you can go to the community mentoring section and follow along with some 'classes'.
