    I feel better about these pencils and I want to do things
    more in the direction where I could improve my skills. I don't
    like staying in place and wasting time on already over chowed bits.

    Below we can see some environment thumbnails from imagination.
    I was thinking about the Blair Witch project a bit I suppose.
    The first thumb is influenced by that. I don't believe in the story, but they
    obviously managed to make a bunch of money fooling
    the weaker minded ones.

    Awesome stuff as always. I've noticed you've been questioning freelancer.com, personally I've never visited it but if you are looking to build a portfolio how about working in mod development? I found this job which you might like, I am not sure if it is paid but working on good mod titles is a good way to build reputation and bulk up your portfolio with concept art related stuff. Just remember to take everything I say with a grain of salt because I personally barely had any experience working with mod teams(was not good enough xD).

    In general just keep up the good work, keep grinding the pencil mileage and get famous!

    Here is a job for a mod which I think might be a successful one: http://www.moddb.com/jobs/concept-artist122\

    If you are not really into the stuff they are doing you could always browse the jobs section of the website here: http://www.moddb.com/jobs

    Normally when browsing for mod jobs make sure that the offer looks presentable and that it looks quite official because it may end up being some kid who has no idea about how to run an indie team and you'll be doing some useless work for him.

    Dude, What a rant. So true. But do not worry so much. The thing about sketchbooks and how long they run, how much dedication someone puts in and how much they stick to their guns.
    If someone does not come back, we have to let go. But sometimes things change and some of those old SBs come back from the dead. Often with amazing upgrades.
    And do not worry about the quality of your upgrades. I suspect you have a word processor hooked up to conceptart because of the insane amount of comments and insights you give.
    Carry on.
    A tutor once said to me: "Let your mind go!" and it didn´t come back.

    I like the pencil page with houses. I don't think Bangbros does any bad to porn-art coz they simply never made anything any close to art. I like the enviro thumbs, but take care about the presentation too, do some crops. Cheers!

    I have to hurry, there are future cookies waiting for me to bake them, but I have to write a lil bit.

    hey, I love #2205 and #2206 a lot! Lovely enviros, it would be cool to see a painting from you where you combine your enviro and figure drawing skills and imagination! An enviro can enhance a figure drawing a lot, make it prettier, deeper, adds to the story...

    I haven't read fully your thoughts about people leaving CA yet, but I totally will and maybe add another post replying that. I, of course, saw little beginner artists with motivation to start an SB, struggling more or less with it, then disappearing. It's sad. I don't think I ever will leave, at least not in the next decade, but my inactivity worries me. Well, it did while I was alive enough to feel anything. But I don't want to discuss my psychiatric issues here. I wish to come back every day and to shine brighter than ever (what isn't that much, actually but I would be happy with it).
    I could never leave Ca.org where you or Lightship dwells, among others. I love you guys too much, it's all my fault I can't get more motivated reading and watching you, I totally should. I need others to keep going, I would feel too lonely alone. This site was always a nice place for me, full with skilled, motivated people with a good humor. And you are special among them and I can't be thankful enough for your presence. Eh, me and words, it never works as well as I want.
    Best wishes ~

    Hey thanks for the insightful post! Good new stuff, the spooky enviro thumbs look great, really convey a tone. oh that gif was the artist and maker the Metal Gear Solid series, I thought cuz ur username you knew about or liked Metal Gear Solid and Solid Snake. If not, this could be great inspiration!

    The theme always gives me goosebumps, listen to this while you draw, I always imagine an army saluting before some epic thing...

    and here is some... other inspiration.

    I was sad to read about your eye, but don't give up! Never give up. Give 'em hell. You've already kicked so much ass, why stop now? One-eyed artists are more frequent than you may think! Why, I know three people who lost eyesight during art school due to injuries.

    I don't know if that's actually helpful or motivational at all, but anyways. Your Blair Witch thumbnails look fantastic! The values are really nice. Your sketches that you have shaded also have really nice tonality.

    WOW...I just went through this whole thread, it took me like two hours! I have to say I am impressed by the progression from the beginning until the end. I love the Quake Series references..I am in awe of the work and technique that you put into your artwork. Oh, and 'THE THING' is one of the best movies ever made! The remake was a real disappointment....Oh well cheers, and hails to you!!

    Great pencils. Post #2205 and #2206 floored me. Great pencil work there, you could tell a story around those. They are definitely pro-quality.
    About your last rant: This is true, we all will disappear someday, but who's gonna talk about us when we're gone? Will we leave a sketchbook, chock-full of cool drawings and paintings (nothing disappears in the Internet), or will we sneak away and fade into obscurity?
    Thanks for the rant.

    Replies;

    Harbinger;
    Thank you for the visit and for the sweetness of your words.

    Marcel;
    I am so happy that you like the weirdness and
    the pervertness, thank you for visiting.

    Wingal;
    Thank you, I will do more environments.

    Tank;
    Thank you for the encouraging words and for the support.

    Kamikaze;
    I was hanging around the mod development section, tried a few projects, but the true problem there
    is that they all want you to work for free. You work a few months and then some kids
    abandon the project, and everything goes into waste. I believe that there are more serious teams
    out there, but my experience was pretty much disappointing till now. Thank you for taking
    the time to share advices and to help me, you are a real kind person, thank you very much.

    Rafid;
    I am working on my portfolio pieces, always trying to improve. Just as you
    said in your reply, we will all leave someday, with bad or good news, things
    just cannot last forever. Thank you for the constant encouragement and support.

    Wolf;
    Best is when old members come back, and bring their sketchbooks alive again.
    That is a beautiful thing. I have a secret Pinocchio kind of guy who makes my
    replies, haha. Thank you for kind words and for boosting up my moral.

    Juraj;
    Your right about Bangbros. Thank you for the environment tip and for the help and reply.

    Dimi;
    Pornygoryartsie sounds great, I like it, thank you for the great words of encouragement.

    shiNIN;
    I saw your future cookies. Don’t tell me what does they hide inside, I want it to be a surprise.
    I am happy to know that you’re not going to leave this community, your will power and
    art desire will never fade. It’s not a problem if you are inactive from time to time, the most
    important is not to leave. Thanks you for the very kind and lovely words, sometimes I feel
    very emotional when I read words like yours.

    Leonard;
    I feel good if you like the environments and the poses, thank you for being with me.

    Shahan;
    I didn’t know that those gentlemen from your gif animation were the creators of Metal Gear.
    Everyday I learn something new. Solid Snake is cool, I like the idea and the concept in general.
    And of course, thank you for those beautiful lady pictures. I suppose they can perform mirracles,
    muddy or not muddy variation.

    chevy;
    I am happy to hear that you will visit again in the future.
    Thank you for your kind words and encouragement.

    Liberty;
    Don’t let anything to cloud your mind, cause you are an unstoppable creative creature.
    Thank you for the kindness and for the love.

    Will;
    Thank you, more nasty stuff will follow in the future I hope, thank you for the reply.

    Brittani;
    I hope that you are right about the eye issue, and of course it’s helpful any words and encouragement
    helps at this moment. Thank you very much for your kindness and for your presence when it’s the toughest.

    Mastronaut;
    Actually I am really surprised, that someone have the patience to go through the whole sketchbook,
    but at the same time it makes me very happy and positive emotions are awaken. The Thing movie is
    fantastic, I like to watch it over and over again. Thank you for the screencap and for the reanimation.

    Forestdino;
    Hello my friend, I am happy that you like the pencil works, and I am happy that you read my previous
    post about leaving sketchbooks. Just a subject that gone through my mind. The main thing and most
    important things is for us to keep drawing and painting even if we don’t post it all here. Thank you
    for your time to visit and to share some kind thoughts with me.

    Graham;
    Thank you very much, I wish you to a Merry Christmas and all the best in the future.

    Kevin;
    I will work more on the pencil environments, paint them I guess. Thank you for visiting.

    Yay! I think the snow part of the snowman lacks some orangeish tint but in general, I LOVE your Christmas pic (and it's figureless version as well). Especially the lamp. It's quite perfect to me. I didn't know you have such a side. I still wouldn't give you a free hand to illustrate fairy tale books for little children if I were in such a position but it might be my old dry bitter mysanthrope self and I would be still curious what would happen if I did... But you did something that made me wish I had such paintings to lay my eyes upon when I was but a lil kid. I often have this feeling here on CA. There are so many people who can do a lovely illustration but the pics in my old children books often were totally ugly, sometimes in a confusing avantgarde wtf way. I loved and still love nice, clear, a bit artistic illustration, eye candy for my inner child. Your lamp reminds me of Spirited away and the few carefully chosen lovely napkins and postcards I have. It warms my soul and it's the most a mere lamp can do. Thank you and of merry christmas to you as well, I was away visiting relatives and I wasn't inspired right now so I have nothing to show, it's a bit sad and show how deep I fell. I remember times when I had ideas to draw just because you inspired me, it's another matter those projcts never got realized. Aww and now my post became too negative in the end, I feel good though, I'm optimistic, I think I will be more active and playful than ever. I'm just a bit sleepy now and I just hope I don't do more grammar and semantic mistakes than usual.
    Oh and that giant squirrel or something feels slightly out of place being a bit more realistic than the rest and I don't even know what he's doing there. I guess he's planning to steal Santa's nuts. Or he already did it. Or he was a good boy and get one for free but no, don't say that, I don't like such sugar coated everything is happy and perfect scenes, even if it's Christmas. For me, the absolute perfect happyness was when Death had the role of the Hogfather and he gave a sword to the little girl who wanted it. Too bad her Mom was unhappy with that and he had to change the gift. And the guards had to take care about another, momless poor girl and they did it because the happy guard got what his inner child wanted... Mmm, that's a great movie, I have to rewatch it, thanks for reminding me of that as well.
    Cheers.

    Marcel;
    Thank you very much, I wish you also the best and a lot of happiness.

    SinEater;
    Lots of beer, burger, happiness and drawing at one place, we will have crazy and fun times in the near
    future. Thank you for the kindness and encouragement.

    shiNIN;
    The snowman is a scary dude, he looks nice but don’t let the looks betray you. He’s got something
    hidden beneath his snowy skin. Dangerous abomination. Illustrating a fairy tale book for children
    would be a fantastic idea. I would hide some secret messages all around. Lots of love would be born
    in the little children mind looking at my illustrations. As I was painting this Christmas painting, I went
    through some temptation phases, where I wanted to put a chainsaw in some-one’s hand, or to put a
    bloody beard on Santa, hanging meat chunks all around. But I managed to keep all on a peaceful level.
    Oh how beautiful it turned out, I am too satisfied. It’s even too calm. The nasty giant squirrel is put there
    on force, something like a necessary evil. I googled up a squirrel and overpainted it. It looks kind of scary
    and it’s also the comic part and highlight of this absurd painting. And he doesn’t dare to tackle around
    Santa’s nuts. Cause no one dares to mess around his nuts. Except Salma Hayek.
    There are no perfect things. Oh, and look at the composition. It’s pretty much rotten, but I said to myself,
    what da hell. Let it be. For this Christmas it could be like this. I am very happy that you like the street lamp.
    Actually it’s a stolen idea, I referenced it from some ones sketchbook here on CA, and made it a bit my way.
    But in the end it turned out pretty sweet. I don’t know about the movie when Death played a Hogfather
    role, but I have a feeling that I should look it up, and watch it. Thank you for the detailed review, reply
    and for your sweet thoughts. I am very happy now, thank you for everything. You will draw and you
    will post something beautiful pretty soon, I can feel it.

    Sushy;
    Thank you my dear, I wish you also all the best,
    lots of love an happiness all around.

    You are in the depth of the frozen cave, the first one who walked these grounds
    after many many years. Even God has abandoned this place.
    It's time to grab it and smash your enemies heads with it.

    Your artworks start to be more active with professional artistic touches.

    I like the way to describe the New year enjoyable time with Santa.
    Lighting showed clean and neat in that drawing with some light absorption
    on the materials around the pathway torch.

    Sketching ideas with traditional technique have creative way to find the
    next idea for the right artwork subject.

    The mask hammer ummm need some extra work may be in future .
    As every artist do , redrawing the old ideas to create something useful
    in their career .

    All the best for you my friend.
    Keep it up and don't forget to keep your humour spirit active when you travel around in the real life
    or in the internet world .

    Thanks again for every support to me in the last 3 years ago too long but still short.

    Have a great life in the next year and after.

    Marry Christmas My Friend Plissken

    Have a beer and enjoy your time around the people who you love.

    Regard,
