@all: Thanks for the suggestions and comments guys, you keep me going! I hope to start bringing in more variety soon! I read everything you guys write--just don't have the time to respond at the moment

    -----

Haven't had much time to do studies between new job and family stuff. Things should hopefully calm down in August. In the mean time, here's some finished work, and some other unfinished things.

HOLY GODS I NEED TO DO MORE STUDIES. FFFFFFF

There are so many mistakes in my paintings, I just don't give a fuck anymore. :/ Need to do some studies, then revisit them in the future.

Wow, It's really cool to see your process. I really like that portrait, and the fur study is nice too. I don't do studies as much as I could either, maybe we could start something like that in our SSG?

Wow! Thanks for sharing your process! It's always fun to see how other people get from A to G.

And your foxes are so cute! I think it's interesting that you start out with more blotchlike spots of color then go to details.

    HOLLAH CA.

Updating before I move back to Philadelphia this weekend.

I draw a lot but I never post because they're mostly doodles, sketches, comics, and other unrelated shit. (No lie, in June alone I had drawn 130+ drawings that will never see the light of day. hoorah).
But here some finished work, some process work, some junk. Whatever. Enjoy~

And thank you for the comments, you guys are way too nice.

ITT: I've been a lazy fuck since July and haven't done many studies. I've also been a busy fuck however, with a lot of other shit to worry about.

I know exactly what you mean. When I'm over busy I fall back on master studies and SPs. Keep drawing, sketching, doodling etc even you don't show them all (I'm very much like that too).

I like the purple guy. The children's illustrations are sweet but unpolished as yet.

Yeah, seems like everyone is busy this summer. It makes me feel like I'm a lazy bum because I have too much free time in the summer. Anyway, nice stuff, I really like the portraits and the woman sitting against the wall with the child. I like the lighting on the magic guy, but something is a bit off with his legs and arms proportion wise. I look forward to your next update and I hope your move to Philadelphia goes well.

As always, great variety of stuff. I really need to take your inspiration and start learning how to draw clothing. I've never made the leap.

Dear CA, I graduated from art school (where i learned not so much) and am now back. Here's a dump of my crap from my portfolio.

I've identified that I really don't understand light/color relationships so well, my designs are boring and lacking individuality, and i'm still working on developing my style so that I"m not cookie cutter fantasy.

Anyway, look forward to some more stuffs. Hopefully jumping back into studies soon as I haven't done any in MONTHS. Terrible!

You are definitely rocking the ideas and concept side of things here, looking through your sketchbook I think you need to push your values some more at times, some local values can be hella dark. Keep it coming

Congratulations on graduating! Good to have you back. Nice variety of projects in this latest update. The close-ups for the fairy tales are rather interesting approach to them I can still identify the stories, though, so you've done a good job with the essence of each story. Good work overall.

So I got the job! Which means no time for studies.

Which means I am sucking really bad 8DDDDDD.
I'm also working on a comic at the moment, so I don't have much to show except morning warm ups/loosen ups.

I have legitimately forgotten how to draw half the things I knew before. Shameful. Gotta get back into.

I also hear the values comment a lot, and I do know that I go from extreme darks to light. I am a fan of the film noir esque shadows. I guess I just gotta find the way the make that convincing in everything? I also just simply love flat blacks on top of rendering. GUESS THAT MAKES ME A SINNER OF AN ARTIST BUT I DON'T REALLY CARE.

Anyway, these are all portraits of characters from my comic.
    shitshitshitshitshit ~

NEXT POST WILL HAVE STUDIES. THAT"S A FACT NOT A PROMISE.

Great sketchbook. You've really developed your style along the way. Congrats on the job. What type of job did you get?

Regarding your values, I would suggest going back and painting basic shapes like the sphere, square, rectangle, cone and pyramid. Also, you can buy a mini wooden mannequin too. Start painting them from one light source and go from there. Walk around the objects to get a better understanding of how light is hitting the form. Doing this will really help you. So far it's been helping me.
