Hmm.. replies? fun! Since I havent actively replied much on theese forums lately, I didn't expect to get much attention in this thread. anyways..the following reply will be wierd..a fun mix between english and norwegian

Slash: Takk! Det er alltid oppmuntrende når noen ser framgang i skissene mine. Bor for øyeblikket i Sandefjord, frem til fredag. Skal begynne på kunstlinja på Trøndertun folkehøgskole. I bought my equipment in a store named Farveriket Bjørvik in Sandefjord. If you ever plan to take a trip to that god forsaken city, visit that store. They have a nice art section.

miesie: Thanks. The last scetches were drawn on some more or less heavy aquarel paper. They are thick, and have some nice rough texture. They were not toned, though. Photoshop did that job. I use mechanical HB pencils, at 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9.

Since I hate posting replies withouth art, here is an half unfinnished sp. I prolly won't have time to finnish it, since i'm moving from town, but i'm open to some crits.

Oh my gosh! n0fish... the improvement! Staggering... that drawing done from the fight club reference is fantastic!

I took the advice you gave me back in January finally and tried to stop relying on line so much, the results were dandy.

    spork891, WillSchnevel: Thanks alot guys!

Here are most of the scetches I have done the last cuple of months.
Face is from my imagination, the hand and taperoll is from life and the girl is drawn from reference..

From life...for about 2 hours or so..

Sanguine lines (sp?) Same guy all over..

I'm sorry about the messy and unfinnished pages..I just want to get them out here and move on.

    Cheers!

    ...new and old...

    flex mathews and liam.c: Thanks!
maxetormer: Thanks dude! Yeah, selfportraits are challenging as hell. I'm humbled that you actually checked out my old stuff as well.

    And some art.

The guy and the nose studies is drawn from reference.

Sort of work in progress...I'm not sure about the lower part of the "flower design"...open for crits and suggestions here. If I can get my wacom back, I might as well do a coloured version as well.

Work in progress...loosely drawn from ref...Not too satisfied with his face and neck...not sure why I put a cross in the background ether...

scraps mashed together on one page. Bad scan due to all the graphite..

    Ink & charchoal...

Decided to go down to the basics. Not the prettiest scetches in the world, but they do at least show me how much I need to get a grasph on the basics.

nice work dude! You've got a good handle on the pencil, and I like the effect you got with the ink and charcoal. That might be cool to screw around with and turn into a character or some shit.

Lot's of progression since the beginning! Keep doing those construction and anatomy studies and you'll kick multiple asses.

    Now

    What's stopping you.

Do not post any more sketches. Post a finished piece. There are many people working full time who cannot draw as well as you.

Hm, well, not being confident with the basics is one thing. I have yet to learn perspective; putting my characters in an enviroment, giving them ground to stand on, etc...also, I need to learn thinking volume over line, wich I'm working with now. Truth is, I just want to get more confident before I start doing finnished work.

But hey, thanks alot for that compliment (yes, I see that as a compliment)! Starting to do commisions has been a scary thought, but hell, why not give it a try.

Hey thaks for droping by dude, the critics you maked on my
images are spot on thanks i need to work more on eyes
spect some new SP for todays work enfasis on skull work
and shading on the area of the eyes he he.

Keep on doing the Kchen stuides, I fell they are hepling me to
understand the volumen on the faces, and i can see its helping
    your too .

    sugesstion:
It might be good chage for you to trade you normal HBpecil for a an 8B
pencil or a graphite bar, and tring to use the side of you pecil to make big
consistent zones of gray that way the image will look cleaner and the
shading an ligth will be better limited, try pusing your darks more
too, even if its just a small scketch try pussing your darks, your are doing
really good, just keep at it!!.

    P. S. the more image you make like this one,
    doodles52.jpg
the more you will understand ligth and volumen, If found that I understand
more about volumen without line when I make full value SP or studies. =)

Just want to bump in this one. I know that the contrast is lacking...the rendering isn't finnished..I'm really struggling with the arms, though, esp. on that big monster thingy...so any help is largely appreciated Mabye his deltoids are too big hehe..

    maxetormer
Hehe no problem. I'm glad I could help.
Hmm...switching to a wooden pencil wouldn't be too dumb, though I don't know about 8B...might get a little too smudgy.
Point taken about making more high contrast value drawings. If you have seen the drawings of James Kei, you will see that he is exellent at getting the planes down with simple strokes. I think I should put emphasis on that, before i go wild on the dark value renderings...
Thanks for the thoughts and keep it up bud

Awsome man, awsome. The shading is brilliant straight from the begining and you can see the realism progress just in these two pages.

    van and robo midget, Thanks.

All the faces, exept the odd ones, are done from life. The last page is a half year old. I have done some more portraits too, but I gave them away before getting a chance to scan them.

endregan: Hey, glad you checked in Yeah, line quality is sonmething I should I should be more aware of. I'll check in from time to time, and if you haven't progressed, I'll bring in Bob...TOPLESS!!!!

I tried to scetch my lil' brother as he was watching TV. He kept moving all the time, so it was hard to get an accurate capture. His eyes are not that gloomy in real life..

Myself in the mirror..it's hard to draw the hand you are drawing with...

Last studies for tonight. Arms are drawn from mirror, anatomy details and bones from book. I seriously need to take a break and get some sleep now. My upper body feels strained from posing and drawing at the same time. But hey! I have learned some, so it was worth the while.

    form in this one:

    doodles70

I can really feel the tension on the pecs, caused by the detoids
and the shoulder bones, GOOD work, make more!

    see ya later,

you have a verry nice skill!
your problem is that you drow a little part of the body, than get to shadding and shadding, than drow the next little piece of the body and rander it too, and so on............ in stead of building all your volume and than get to rander the body! It's a mistake that i'm trieing to give up on... It really makes you do more proportions and shape errors... And you have a verry nice line and style for this to happen!

eh... i belive i;m not the one that should give you the advices...

maxetormer : Hehe, you are too kind I feel really lazy when looking at your construction and enviroment studies. Really thanks, you made me all warm and fuzzy 8)
dCept: Ikkeno, Baloo! Thanx. I'll keep what you said in mind. Need to practice more construction hehe.
TASart: Thanx! I checked your sb...you got skills!
Icey: You are very right! I have been awar of the issue for a long time without doing something about it. Untill now, I feel. Thanks for the reminder

Okay, more mirror studies. Trying to discover and absorb as much anatomy as possible. This is a very exhausting way of studiyng, but damn! It pays off! I feel I have progressed allready, and that doesn't happen often.
